Some 'die-hards' are out and racing else where (Shropshire).

I have found the last 2 Elvington events a bit flat if i'm honest (sorry).

I am very involved in putting on 9 speed hill climb events each year at my Club's own race track, and I do know the work involved, i don't have to guess at it.

If there is no clash, then next year, but i have a Chamoionship to race as well.

54 entries really is a sad affair though, and i'm not exactly rallying to the cause, but the wife (who likes motorsport) really wasn't keen at all.

I wish everyone the very best day and no breakages!

Every year, Chris Mann puts everything he can into organising an amazing event solely for subaru drivers, hyped up on this website and many others. The entries have been open for months, and still there is only 54 entries on the list. So out of all the subaru owners on here, not even 100 people will enter. How many of you are going to go and stand at the side lines annonmously thinking how you would have enjoyed taking part?

Seriously, it really is sad and dissapointing that 100 places cannot be filled from the members on this site alone. This isnt only for high powered cars, if you look, the better prizes are for the slower classes. My car is almost standard, and im driving from Northern Ireland, staying in a hotel for the weekend just so i can be there and take part!

Come on people, put your money where your mouth is and get entered, you have 4 days left!

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...=496758&page=5

It's a business and presumably a profit making one.

If people like whats on offer then they will go, if not they wont.....simple really.

Dont see why people should be made to feel as if they must attend.

FWIW I have been told that it was an excellent event last year.

If it was around the corner from me then I would most certainly attend.

you have obviously picked me up wrong, it is the mouth pieces on here who bum and blow about their cars, then something like this comes up, a perfect opportunity to show us their cars, and no!
i am in no way trying to make people feel they must attend, just saying that it is disapointing that we cant have more entrants!

Agreed, but even better would be for the 'my car is so much better than an Impreza' brigade to attend and put their money where their mouth is!!!!

You say there are classes that would allow standard cars to compete. Where are they I can't see any in http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=513411

It looks like the drag stip classes may work that way but to be honest I have no idea about drag racing or what the classes mean. TO me it looks like the way to win a prize in the drag races is to have a car that can do 1/4 mile in either 13.31s 12.31s 11.31s or be fastest on the day.

York is a pain in the **** to get to, but so was last weekend's Legacy meet in the middle of nowhere in Wales and I went to that, but that was just a fun blat around the hills for a few hours. Great fun for everyone, even those who turned up in non-turbo cars.

why not have a go though? then you may find that your car is one of those that does 12.31, 13.31 etc

theres not that much to drag racing its just a fun competiton at the end of the day unless your competing at the top end.

Just to re-iterate to anyone who hasn't been/competed, it IS very good fun - I ran my 205 at the 04 shootout and had a right laugh. Being a drag strip it doesnt do much damage to the car, compared to a trackday and the weather was storming at the last 2 SSO's

Brunters would have noise issues, which Elvington wouldn't have at the same level - we held a driver training day there recently and noise issues are getting much worse at Brunters.

we purchased a db meter for testing, and were pleasantly surprised by the results. Bigsinky's car, which sounds really loud, passed with a reading of 100db!

Some interesting comments and views which are all welcome.

All involved in setting this up (Simon H, Simon dB, Chris M, Straightliners and myself) had many conversations about the date. Unfortunately due to other issues, the date that we have was the only feasible date available at the venue. We fully appreciate that this is very close to JapFest, and we will certainly not be repeating this again next year. Due to other time constraints and waiting on dates to be realised, it was either go with that date or not bother this year (which was not an option). This issue will certainly not detract from the fact that this will be one of the main Subaru specific events to attend this year!!!

We also appreciate peoples comments about venue and these comments are certainly being taken on board for next year.

At the end of the day, we all hope this year will be as good as previous years (if not better, especially with a handling course ). Obviously, these events (has been an eye opener for me) requires a lot of hard work by many people and support from you guys.

At the end of the day, it's a credit to TOTB Ltd and the support from you guys on previous years!

The slight change to this year was to make it more appealing to everyone, as well as the "big boys" and with the classes / trophies up for grabs I think we have gone a long way to achieve that.

REMEMBER: This is a chance FOR ANYONE to have a bash and it's not all about winning.

Of course the other side to the event is the social one, giving people the chance to meet and greet!

With have a lot of support from the regional groups to help us with this and this year have designated areas for these clubs to "show off" and have a central spot.

At the end of the day, everyone is welcome regardless!!!!

Hope to see you all there!

Regards,
Shaun.

some of the better prizes are aimed at the medium tuned cars, not the "Big boys"
still time for your entry, and if you dont make the finals at 4pm you can always spectate then!
