May I return the right honourable gentlemans comments by saying my car is not only my pride and joy but also my means for getting to and from work.

I've been as a spectator before, but left after a couple of hours as the fun part was the drive over in convoy and seeing the first few cars race off into the distance. For me and my mates it then became a trip to tedium.

As an owner, the thought of scragging the **** of it up and down a strip, doesnt appeal to me. I like my clutch and the 50mile walk to work on the following Monday would take me quite some time to accomplish

That one time I went, the one car from our group who did compete had the **** fall out of his car on the way home after the countless thrashings up and down the strip...Unlucky for him I suppose, and I guess that many cars came away completely unscathed but its not for me.

Not everyone on here is prepared to go to the time and expense for an occasion like this but it is a shame if the totb crew cant fill the places.

Hopefully on the day more will want to enter and I hope they do...

Best wishes to all who DO go and watch/take part. Have a great day... I'll be in bed having stayed up drinking the entire night before watching the Ricky Hatton fight

this will be my first time attending SSO so i would rather just spectate. and i couldn't really justify putting my clutch and gearbox under all that stressas it is bad enough saving for an uprated clutch let alone a new gearbox as well. im sure it will be a great day with the 59 entrants so far.

The actual participants may not be earth shattering but the actual event attendance for Subaru owners and simply Subaru fanatics will be very good.

Off the top of my head there are 17 WYIOC cars attending (hope the club area is big enough) plus 15 from SMACS

2 possibly three of ours will be running.

I think a lot of Impreza owners just like to see how fast there cars are on the roads. I know by the poor uptake by impreza owners on our track days this is the case, we have to open it up to the EVO.net and SXOC boys to get the numbers up, its a bit of a shame given the size of this community.

The best and safest place to say, how quick you went, and how you beat or got beat by ?? is at events such as this. allthough it's likely to be a subaru you beat or lost to

Its maybe not all about the taking part, simply attending the event will make it big, and the guys who are running may get more runs in, thats equally good for the spectators.

I am certain it will be an excellent event and super day out for all, espeicially those of us whom love the Subaru marque

Please remember guys this event is not just about entering your car for the events. The other angle of this event is a meeting place for all and sundry from ScoobyNet to meet and chat with each other, potter around traders stands, let their kids play in the childrens area, see some demo drives of a Spec C race car, walk around and see these cars competing up close in the pit lane as well as some very special non scooby invite cars etc etc..... basically have a fun day out!

But for those who are running or intend to run, we have some awesome sponsored prizes this year!!!!

As regards to local groups attending, we already have a current list of over 130 cars (which is only based on 4 groups so far) for these groups in specified group show area's. Put this together with the other countless numbers of convoys that are being organised, this should turn out to be a very well supported Subaru day!

Regards,
Shaun.

There's alot out there that prefer polishing and lifting there bonnets instead of driving.

....you could always open it up to other clutter

If I wqnted to see cars on a drag strip I'll go and watch 6000hp monsters doing it rather than something that will to be honest look slow.

I use mine for work everyday, and will be driving it there and back.

As said above, this gives us the opportunity to use our cars in a safe and legal environment while having loads of fun. I really cant wait now as the banter at it is going to be great. Im not only going for the racing, but for the socialising, the convoy over from belfast and the meeting people on the day. Really really looking forward to it!

I would be over from holland if I thought for one second my gearbox would last the day.

can't beleive people would moan about a couple of hundred mile drive. It's about time a few people learned there is life north of watford.

All for the better really, it means that just the enthusiasts will turn up making the atmosphere even better

Boy, on that basis why don't you just sit at home and watch the next space shuttle take-off!

The idea behind SSO and TOTB is that the cars you see on the strip are the same cars you see on the road both to and from the event - not ethanol drinking monsters that need a parachute to stop and have the turning circle of the Titanic!

For me, there is nothing but admiration for guys who work on their scoobs all year to produce cars that can blitz a quarter mile strip or crack the handling track and then drive them home without mechanical change (OK some change tyres but that is all!)

Yes, there is the occasional mechanical failure. But by and large the scoob is pretty robust and I've seen stock and even modified cars tear down the strip all day without missing a beat.

And to top it all, my twelve year old lad thinks I'm the tops for taking him each year. What more could you want from life?
