End of the day though, it doesnt really matter who gets hired or fired as long as Sugar makes good TV ( as opposed to good TV's, which is something Amstrad would never manage ! ) and massages his own ego.

I would imagine the 'winner' is taken on initially on a fairly short contract ?, so if it doesnt work out, he can just get shot of them - and if he has to pay a years salary, then its no skin off his nose.

Agree with the post above, its not like shes going to be working in the same office with him every day - she'll have some manager overseeing her and maybe Sugar will get a progress report once a month on how shes doing.

One problem I have with Sugar is that he bangs on about how down to earth he is, and his humble roots, yet makes everyone call him 'SIR Alan' - why not just Alan, or Mr Sugar ? OK, I know Sir is his proper title, but I know a few people with various titles, and they dont make people address them by them all the time.

See I think this is where Paul messed up. See the programme is called "The Apprentice" now in my book, that is someone which is young and has the basic key skills which can be built on to make you into a successful person.

So when Sir Alan Sugar reminded him that he was only 25 or whatever it was and that he doesn't know Business as he has only been working for 3 years. My reply would have "yes, you are right Sir Alan at the moment I have the key skills for you to build on." Not "I know everything blah blah blah"

Ohh and I thought it was funny how in the interviews they ripped into Michelle for saying that she had a good instinct/gut feeling. Then on the last show Sir Alan said "I've got a gut instinct about Michelle".

hmmm

Some more info for those interested:
http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/sto...772206,00.html

Both finalists have spent the six months since filming finished working for him and two endings were filmed to keep them guessing ahead of the denouement.

Ms Badger, who endeared herself to viewers despite a domineering manner, is unlikely to let the result affect her confidence. The 28-year-old sales manager from Wolverhampton said she was "absolutely gutted" not to win. Her mother, Edna Hall, added: "Ruth had a sales glint in her eye the day she was born. If she could have flogged her bottle she would have done."

Alan Giles, chief executive, HMV Group

"It is not a business programme. It is entertainment, although I don't think it is very entertaining either. Businessmen do not turn up in a Bentley and scream you're fired at people. I think it puts business in a very bad light. Alan Sugar does everyone a great disservice by doing it. Young people will be turned off because they think they will be shouted at by a horrible fat old rich bloke."

lol....SAS, darling of the business world...NOT!

Not that hes just jealous he isnt the star of the show then BTW the UK version is a follow on to the US where it started with Donald Trump and is now on his 5th series. He not so hostile but still doesnt take any crap.

Didn't matter to me who won really. This was a very enterteining series and was very watchable. I liked it so much for the colourful characters, the bitching, the backstabbing and yes the mauling the losing team received at the end of each task.

The main watchable players for me in this series were Sayeed, Jo and Paul. Some of the rest had their moments, but to be honest they were boring to watch. Top bloke for entertaining situations has got to be Sayeed, hated him at first, then grew to looking forward to the next situation he would smarm and wriggle out of. Out of this programme, I think he's the one that will do the best out of it despite not reaching the final.

He was being deliberately provocative. Of course you need a good sense of instinct in business. How else do you tell who's giving you the runaround or who really wants to buy your widgets?

If you watch the whole series you will see that the only time AMS smiled empathetically with a contestant was with Michelle. And no, boys, it was not because she was young cute and blonde - indeed last week he said she was a cold fish! His empathy was like that of a father with a daughter if you watch his facial expressions carefully.

The two things that won it for her are the first time she revealed something more personal and told AMS that she her siblings were proud of her and she made sure they did not want for anything and tonight when he said that she had worked hard for everything all her life.

Clearly she had to perform overall however with these very strong values which were so closely aligned to AMS's values she was on to a winner. Even only making half the money and not having the commercial nous of Ruth she still won.

All IMHO of course
Exactly what we noticed. AMS's expression really softened last week with Michelle.

Also think that Ruth talked herself out of winning. Afterall, it's called the Apprentice, so who would want an apprentice that knows it all? Which is basically what Ruth said.

Great TV and looking forward to the next series.

Sir Alan was after an apprentice not someone who thinks she has done everything, knows it all and can be taught nothing ....... What he was after was someone from hard roots who he can mould how he wants them......Thats exactly what he got. Fair play Michelle, good on ya girl.

I thought the traditonal role of an apprentice was to grow a bum fluff tache, and stand around looking shifty while smoking cheap **** ? or is that just tradesmans apprentices ?
