I do agree with elements of what you say, and to be honest I will at the end of the day do what I feel is right, and what I feel is right for the woman that im luckily enough to be with, and be assured that I will have those little things in place that will make her feel special (and that doesnt include SN04's more than kind offer) the grand gesture is just that, any woman will tell you so, I have the personal in place I was just looking for advice on the garnish, even you cant shoot me for that.

It doesn't really matter what you get her, or where you go. Just make the effort for the whole event, and it will be appreciated.

You should receive her into your home with great warmth,then take her out for a meal of HER choice,then back home give her a big bunch of roses plus,a romantic card with a chice of her expensive perfume.Then,have her to stay over and all that...........
DON'T get her any jewellery coz that tiny box might give her an impression that it has an engagement ring inside.Too soon for that.
PS: whatever you do,let it come from the bottom of your heart.She will suss if you are faking

my suggestion for what its worth....
- bunch of white roses (nowt over the top) with a card ready at your home when she arrives
- lingerie for when she's getting ready to go out (cami & knickers if you cant cope with bra sizes)
- dinner (focus on romantic and relaxed rather than flash and posey)
-homemade voucher 'one hour of any pleasure you desire' on the pillow ready for bedtime
Worked for me even if i did have to show him where the kitchen sink is
