Out of interest at what year was it made widely known that people shouldnt smoke or drink whilst preggers? Just interested because the Sister in Law is pregnant at the minute and shes being fussy about stuff she will and wont eat etc but Ive started laughing and saying years ago nobody cared and its not asif babies were dying on a massive scale because of it. Just out of interest does anyone know the figures etc about childbirth problems/complications and deaths since we were told whats good and bad for you?

Same thing about how kids shouldnt do this and that yet I think its a good thing when we used to do stuff that supposedly wasnt good for you, helps the bodies immune system develop more IMO

I find it unthinkable that an 11 year old girl was even out! in order to be doing those things in the first place.

My 11 year old daughter is returning from a 5 day school trip to Edinburgh later today so I will have to get her checked out to make sure she's still innocent and then lock her in her bedroom until she's at least 40 !!

Seriously though Windy-Daughter has no interest in boys or smoking or drinking, maybe I'm just a good parent unlike the parents of that girl who don't seem to have an interest in her up-bringing and let her do what ever she wants.

Windyboy.

A bill should be passed making it illegal to get pregnant under the age of legal sex. Anyone caught flaunting should have their foetus immediately aborted and the "mother" sterilised.

Nice to see the 15 year old father has now been charged with statutory rape, hopefully he'll be locked up.

I Suspect they are just going through the motions, sadly, the 15yr old is still a child and the girl was consenting ,hope i'm proved wrong and they do lock him up ,take the baby off the mother ,put her into care ,then throw the parents into prison for neglect ,just wishfull thinking though in this wonderful country of ours where every scumbag can act with impunity while we the law abiding citizens get a swift kick in the bo*****s every day.

The major fault here lies well and truly at the feet of an incompetent and non caring government which has encouraged the demise of the proper family and presided over the complete fall of standards that we are seeing.

Respectufully Les, I would argue that the fault here is with the mother. I'm sure she'd be the first to blame everyone else for her shortcommings, but irrespective of the clowns in power at the moment, she did not have to let her 11 year old out to drink, have unprotected sex, openly smoke, and continue to do so during pregnancy. She should certainly not be "proud of her". I'd be The governement certainly aren't helping, but what's really hurting society at the moment is the blame culture that pervades a certain demographic:

"I can do what I want and it doesn't matter what happens because it's someone elses fault and someone else will pay!"

It's about time certain members of UK society were made to stand up and be accountable for their actions and damn well made to make amends!!

Of course nature allows an 11 year old to have a baby. Nature doesn't let a 62 year old have one.

The 11 year old should be around for her kid/s when they are 20 but the 62 year old may be long gone.

I would say both pregnancies are wrong but there is a case to argue that the 11 year old's will be better for the kid/s in the longer term. dl

"Drugs raid at home of pregnant Armadale girl

POLICE have found cannabis at the Armadale home of the 12-year-old girl who is set to become Scotland's youngest mum when she gives birth in June.

The family flat was raided by police on Friday, following allegations that it was being used a drugs den.

The girl's 16 year old brother is believed to be facing charges."

I think what Mollox is trying to say (forgive me if I'm wrong) is that this news just does not surprise us. In fact if the family were clean of drugs completely that would have been more of a surprise. I live fairly near to this whole sorry incident, I have a 9 year old daughter and find it hard to believe that this has happened to a girl just 2 years older than her.

New scooby 04

I believe that it starts with the government and the attitude towards falling standards and morality. Yes of course the mother is to blame in this case but she obviously has no idea of how to behave in a civilised society and much of the blame for that lies with the authorities and the dreadful example which has been set by MPs and celebrities too for that matter.

As far as abortion is concerned, it was not the unborn child's fault and it should be given its chance to continue its life.

I blame women's lib.

It was so simple in the old days.

You worked - The wife looked after you & the kids.

No complaints from anyone.

Except those pesky women

I'm no doctor, but there are proven links between smoking and incresed chances of miscarriage and cot death. Both are devastating when they happen.
With what's widely known now, and conveniently denied by those who are too selfish, is IMHO reason for classing smoking during pregnancy as child abuse.
Yes it used to happen, though a lack of obvious health damage means nothing, but people never used to strap their kids into a car. How many people (other than Chelsea tractors on the school run) wouldn't belt their kids in now?

my wife did everything she could when pregnant, and didn't use any drugs during labour. Sadly our daughter still spent 3 weeks in intensive care, and had 12 ops. But at least we know nothing we did caused it.

Leslie,

Call me a pessemist....but, what chance does the poor blighter stand in this particular secenario though? Born into this environment there is only one way the child's life is going to pan out.....

Talizman,

If you were in the child's situation and able to make the choice, would you elect to be killed or would you prefer to take a chance on life?

This situation is no valid excuse for effectively murdering a child because that is what it amounts to!
