According to an article in the paper this morning the guy injured in the crash is going to sue Hamed for £3.5 million (£1m for loss of earnings and £2.5m for medical care for the rest of his life). Apparently, Hamed is worth around £70m so it's still fairly small change to him...

With regards to his having a career, Id disagree: he lost his career as soon as he was beaten. Any boxer preparing to fight Hamed now will watch the tapes and see how to win. Hamed was good, but he wasnt nearly as good as he appeared to be; as soon as someone saw his weakness he was finished. When you consider too, that he cant be told anything, he hasnt a hope. An aquaintance of mine is an ex-IBF champion and joined Hameds camp towards the end: he tried but Hamed knew way too much to be helped by a better boxer.....

For the time being, I will take the opinion of an ex-IBF Super Middleweight champion over a soundbite on the news.

Having been on the receiving end of a head smash at a combined speed of 140mph, i can tell you its not a very nice, its made worse when you can see your wife standing at your bedside while your wired up to all manner of machines and drips, drifting in and out of consiousness and not being able to tell her your ok..ish.
The stupid student tw@t who hit me got banned from driving for 2yrs, but seeing as my injuries were no where near as bad as this poor chaps.
The sentance what has just been handed out is far too soft IMHO, he will be out in about 8mths to carry on living life to the full, where as the chap he injured will still be suffering and coming to terms with his injuries, will Hamed give any thought to this bloke, No will he ****, im guessing he will come out of prision bragging to his mates how easy it was and cary on with the good life.
He's a scum.

Anyone who causes or increases danger of injury or death through a deliberate action or lack of action - is a ****.
Were you a gold star debating member of the societies at Uni ?
If I took your standpoint, I could argue that Tony Bliar, who has sent hundreds of servicemen and women into a dubious war is a total ****.
Hmmmmmm. Perhaps you have a point!
Nas waited at the scene for quite some time. He ensured that the emergency services had been called. He only left when it became clear that tempers, understandibly, overflowed and the good old press turned up.
He was NEVER going to hide the fact that his £320K car with plate of NAS 1 was wrapped up on a road near his home. If I was him I'd probably have done the same. Clear the scene and face the music - which is exactly what he has done - so lay off it...

Mr Burgin's injuries have left him permanently debilitated. He arrived in court with a recently fitted brace for his right arm. His vision has been affected and it's unlikely he'll be able to drive ever again. After several operations, including graft surgery, his left leg is 43mm shorter than his right. Mrs Burgin was also injured in the crash. Though her injuries were not as extensive, she now has a phobia of travel. To defend any **** in the circumstances of this case appears to be a little bit of hero worship.
No problem with hero worship - but don't let it get in the way of facts.
If this involved any other non-celeb everbody in the world would at least say "What a ****".

Are you condoning his actions by saying this is the course of action you would take ?
A quote from the victim
"His only instinct was to save himself. He left me for dead," said Anthony Burgin.
Have a look at the last photo …. would You run away from this ?

He didn't run away.
He has faced the court.
He has taken the punishment.
