Nothing wrong with Bosch but I wouldn't buy them from Halfrauds, I used to get the exact same wipers around 50% cheaper from a local motor factors.

Z.B.A.W. You would not make that comment if you had applied and tried Rain-X. Agood safety aid IMHO.
PIAA blades. I have had several sets at a good price but generally over priced and hyped on advertising and no better than some others..........IMHO

For once Pete, I have to agree with you.
Wipers are the biggest rip off items going, I'm not happy with the ones I got a few days ago from Subaru (Bosch ones), they're not much better than what I took off

I paid £1:25 each for my 3 wipers - thats £3:75 for a full set.

This place beggars belief on what they will spend on 'so-called' better items

You can run these cars on a shoestring if you are smart - be stupid and they will cost you an arm and a leg!

But, it's no good me telling them - they simply won't listen ....... they pay MORE than £15 for 5 Litres of Oil too, you know???? Shocking!

Yes, I can buy as many as I like ......................

But then again, I can also buy a chocolate teapot - they are both equal in their usefulness!!

Finally got round to ordering some blades.

Contacted the local dealer, only OEM ones, or AeroBlades (£29.99), no Bosch!

Then, wifey's just gone to Halfords, no Bosch ones for my year/model. Only halfords own. So what's the crack there? They said they can match them. Wifey left without.

The matching, they take other models of cars and check size or what? I'm lost...

All you need is the length of the old wipers (in inches or cms) to take to Halfrauds, as the Bosch wipers have universal fitting kits supplied (but not that you need them).

You can even take the old wipers in, as the box has a ruler down the side to measure your old items.

No need to check year model etc.

If you have a look at the arc on the windscreen you may be able to squeeze an extra inch in () as I did and get a bigger arc vs. the original pre installed wipers.

Alright thanks, that's what i thought, but the guy either didn't explain it like that when he said "match it", or the language barrier intervened for the wifey.

Try an independant car shop.

I got some Bosch blades 2 weeks ago for less than £4 each.

I got some Bosch Super Plus ones from wiperblades.co.uk And they are brilliant, the blades and the service from wiperblades. Much cheaper than Halfrauds. £12 inc del compated to Halfrauds which want £15 per blade And I got two.

My 01 bugeye had the (very naff 'carbon effect') PIAA wipers on when I bought them and I was chuffed until the first time it rained. Absolutely sh*te. Might need to go out and buy some specific glass cleaning product and see if that makes a difference (as opposed to wiping the glass with vinegar). My gut feeling is that these have been on the car since way back. Not making any screeching noises, but are just p*sh at doing their job. Local motor factors for me I think...

I lOOked at those, but the car selection threw me a bit. They had had Impreza Hatch OR Impreza Saloon, Estate.

PIAA just do the blades ...about £7 each iirc & lasted about 3 years ...think that work's out cheaper than cheapskate Lewis's change @ every service?

Although not worn and thoroughly cleaned several times, my PIAA leave a smear after only 5 months. The only reason I have another set on the car is that they were given to me complimentary from a supplier I do a lot of business with who will be ceasing supply of these blades when existing stock is sold.
I don't use my wipers much as I like Rainex, especially in the heavy rain. Only problem is, that for best results, it needs application monthly.

Anyone tried the Subaru AeroBlades? They look similar to the ones on my girlfriends A Class which are really good. The problem I have with my standard ones are smearing, shuddering and in the winter they freeze and are unable to follow the contour of the window. The AeroBlades design should prevent this, but at a cost of £29.99 are they worth it?
