This is a favourite line of mine. If you can accept the truth of this without terror, then you're either very brave or very hectic.

Existentialism tends to view human beings as subjects in an indifferent, objective, often ambiguous, and "absurd" universe in which meaning is not provided by the natural order, but rather can be created, however provisionally and unstably, by human beings' actions and interpretations.

Yes but all this is one man's theory. The power of suggestion is very potent, however certain subjects can be more receptive to this subtle inference than others. Maybe life is just a game and we all have a part to play, some of us have our strings pulled and others pull strings. However what happens when the hunter becomes the hunted?

The thing is, John, when I posted that passage earlier on in the thread, it was meant to be an obvious joke, yet you took it as an opportunity to have a pop. Why did you do that?

On the contrary, I think it's absolutely true that we are alone in a universe that is essentialy uncaring and absurd, and that concepts such as God, justice, morality etc. are just constructs that have no meaning or validity whatsoever outside human civilisation.

If you believe in the universe then it is a folly to presume we are alone. The concept of a divine umpire may be an absurdity in modern day life I grant you, however justice and morality are not, because this lack of justice and morality creates problems.

Bubba proves his ability to construct a lucid sentence regarding an abstract subject matter as a counter to claims of plagiarism. Good fun this observation game.

I've just tried it and the second sentence of the first (of two) results is rather pertinent.

Existentialism emphasises action, freedom and decision as fundamental to human existence and is fundamentally opposed to the rationalist tradition and to positivism. More generally it rejects all of the Western rationalist definitions of Being in terms of a rational principle or essence or as the most general feature that all existing things share in common.
