Speaking for myself, fast approaching all the 5's, I'm glad I've left yoof behind. I re-started my life 10 years ago and haven't looked back. I feel kinda sorry for the teens particularly, but also the 20 and 30 somethings. Life for them seems so much more complicated and heavy compared to mine during those years.
After all, what can anyone do about aging ? Best to look forward and take what life throws at you rather than back and regret what's no longer here.

I am usually much more philosophical about it all - maybe it's working for a compnay where the average age is 26!! Or maybe one too many TV ads of women in their undies with prefect skin smoothing various lotions into their celulite free thighs!

I totally agree that you shouldn't have regrets - though I have to say I didn't feel old at 31! What's freaky is that I realised the other day that I can remember my mum being the age that I am now - and that's really scary 'cos she's always been so old!!

And on the subject of grey - my gorgeous hubby is quite grey and it looks fantastic! Plus George Cloony is getting a bit grey around the edges too and I certainly wouldn't kick him out of bed! (Unless I heard the key in the front door....)

Im 35 and dont feel old, cos I am not, 80 is old !

Anyway, if you get 20 year olds telling you how old you are and how young they are, just freak them out by saying that they may not actuall live to 39 and judging by how they look now I doubt it.

As for the towel thing, did some testing, Big fluffy bath towel (damp), smaller towel and a the hand towel and still not failed even allowing for the additional leverage I am packing, I am now off to the John Lewis towel dept......

Besides, I have always thought older, i.e. older than thirty women are far sexier (massive sweaty munters notwithstanding at any age) as long as they dont try to dress too much younger.

Two years to go till I'm 50. Trouble is I still think I'm around 26. Mind you a quick look in the mirror quickly disproves that.

Talking

WTF am i on about - i've got Alzeimers now.
Never mind.....

.....you get to meet lots of new people every day

PS Given the choice, what's the better illness to have, Parkinsons or Alzheimers?

Parkinsons of course.

Well, it's better to spill half your pint than forget where you put it

(My dad told me that one and considering he has had early onset Parkinsons for over 25 years, I deemed it appropriate to laugh!)

Isn't the towel test equivalent for women the pencil test?

Exclamation

If its any consilation DBW you are one of the few people on Scoobynet whose threads i always read, mainly because being a bit older you often have something interesting to say.
As for getting older the only bit i dont like is the physical deterioration, the slightly receeding hairline and the non perfect teeth. All you can do is be positive though.

Question:
Who are the role models for the 40 and overs.
Mine is Clint Eastwood, nearly 80 and still making a contribution.Top bloke.

Aaawwww - thanks - but to be fair I talk an awful lot of ****e too!

STI - I began failing the pencil test some time ago - but I like to put that down to size rather than sagging!

Had a conversation in a highly important meeting this morning that turned into a debate about whether Mr Benn was gay and getting it on with the shopkeeper. Several people in the room under the age of 30 could contribute nothing but blank, bemused stares!

I was going to say I am stiffer for a lot longer in my late 30's.This tends to be post sport related though.

Give me a 39 year old woman anyday to a 20 year old. Can't do speed loving anymore

Age is Just a Number.

40

Just seems to be a bigger one than usual.

But 40 is ok - you soon get over it realising how close 50 is

It aint a rehearsal and not everyone gets to 20 - never mind any older .

Tell me about itr DBW! The most important thing is to keep thinking young and don't lose your sense of humour.

I'm with Yve on this one, just ignore all the other things and enjoy what you have got and make good use of the experience of life that you have put in the bank.

Rightyho - just nipped into Muppet and re read the Billbill tributes. Will take a leaf outta his book and age as disgracefully as I possibly can! And should my gorgeous hubby ever try to leave me for a younger, taughter, model - he'll be leaving minus a couple of important items!

Thanks guys - you all cheered me up!
