Well how is petrol cheap smartarse??

We get shafted by the government in fuel tax!! Are we supposed to be grateful for this??

Over a quid a litre is scandalous. I'd be very interested to know the overall profit that the government makes out of fuel taxation. It must be a massive amount. Couple this with road tax, and what exactly do we get for our money?? Some of the worst roads in europe.

So yeah, I stand by my first comment.

Why is it meaningless? Is your life so boring that you have to work out the amount of tax you pay on everything? The comparison still stands, you moan about paying for petrol yet have no qualms about pissing 4 times the amount down the bog!! Wake up dreamer!!! This is life get used to it! stop whingeing!
Or better still leave this over taxed country you seem to hate so much! Did you get a free education? Do you get free healthcare? Have you not enough to eat? Can you say as you please? can you more or less do as you please? Should I go on? You do have a choice as to which car you drive! If you can't afford the petrol costs then I refer you to my previous comment.....GET A DIESEL. But please stop whining like a bitch....

If you can't be arsed to look at the video, go here for a text based version....Optimax all the way for me (V-Power now) as it gets 10ft lbs more torque than BP plus the extra 1bhp

Default V-Power

I believe V-Power is now 99 RON not 98 like Optimax was!
I'm running MY97 JDM on it and it seems to be running well on it with no Octane Boosters.

I actually save money (works out to a few pence per tank IIRC) using SUL due to the extra mpg i get from it.

Who's the plonker? Yes they could cut tax on fuel, then perhaps close a few schools, shut down some hospitals, sack the police force etc, still at least you'd be paying less for your petrol then

I think you'll find that the government isn't here to 'make a profit' as you rather naively put it.

Fuel tax is part of the overall tax mix, which is then spent on public services, surely you weren't suggesting that Gordon Brown keeps all the fuel duty collected under his pillow.

1 more thing, in real terms the cost of motoring has gone down from 10 years ago, this however I suspect is about to change. Then the real whinging is gonna start.

Same here with the PPP, i never understood what people were talking about when they said they had to use a particular fuel but since owning my scoob for a few months i can really notice the difference say from sainsburys / Esso super say compared to shell V-power. V-Power all the way now, wouldnt touch anything else unless i was about to run out. I'd probably consider pushing it to a shell garage though!

Same here. I used to have a Shell garage only 2 miles from my house until they closed it

I now do a 16 mile round trip just to use V Power
