Hello Blutto 22B,
Sorry to hear it was Freddie as in Fredie & the Dreamers.
I remember him being larger than life when he bounced around the stage you were made for me & stuff.
Poor Freddie.
KInd regards
Alan MAC

YOU may not like these kind of threads, fair enough. YOU may not care about the person concerned, fair enough! That does not mean that OTHERS are necessarily being insincere in expressing regret over someone's death. In responding to Yve, you said that these threads make you sick, fine. What, then, are you trying to acheive by stating that here? Surely the more appropriate thing to do is either to contribute in the spirit of the thread, not contribute if the thread means nothing to you, or raise an issue you have with it a different thread?

Oh for goodness sake NSO4. I understand completely that people may be saddened by the loss of an artist, sportsperson or whomever. My point about 'faux grief' was aimed at those who seem to enjoy public outpourings when they don't even know of, let alone know, the celeb they're grieving over. It's akin to shedding a tear for Mrs Smith in Bristol (who was lovely by the way). I think one of the thread's contributors made referance to 'recreational grieving' which I happen to find distasteful and only mentioned when challenged.
Edited to add: however, having just read back over the thread, I ought not to have got involved.

Nothing personal mate You just made it sound like you were having a dig at some of the folks on here that were fans and wanted to express their regret (which seems perfectly valid). I'm with you on the recreational grieving thing) although the thing is it can be hard to distinguish between genuine and recreational on the net, so I tend to give the benefit of the doubt!
No hard feelings!

JTaylor~ only just caught up with this thread again, seems you had a pop at my response. Could I just say that I was a child of the 60's and fondly remember Freddie and the Dreamers and their music , they cheered up a lot of people with their happy approach. I'm sad he's died. He was ill for a long time but even so, was positive and outgoing.
I'm the first to groan when I see people jumping on the band wagon laying flowers etc when someone dies, it seems the passing of P Diana set off a bit of a grieving hysteria here in this country. But what maddens me beyond words is when folks on here in particular want to convey their feelings of sadness at the passing of some notable figure from the past, usually , people (thankfully in the minority) not unlike yourself, find an excuse to have a pop and poke fun , the sarcasm is the worst, it is unwarranted and unwanted.
We are NOT beating our breats in forlorn anguish. We are just sharing a sadness at the passing of someone who was part of our youth.
The day people stop caring like that, will be a very sad day for this world.

What a mistake! It was very bad of me to be sad on the loss!
JT,there are some people who are genuinely sorry for anyone's loss-celebrity or not!
That recreational grieving concept is in your mind, nowhere else!
It's not like one put on an expensive black suit to join the funeral and later, joined everyone in the pub for a few pints!
