It would be good to have Tiff and/or Plato on Top Gear - Clarkson tends to do the airfield driving, and hes clearly not that good.
Watching Tiff/Plato doing massive powerslides is better than Clarkson doing a little slide followed by a spin all the time...
When they did a shootout between a Boxster and Z4 with Tiff and Plato both powersliding around the corners only meters apart it was quality!

Top Gear is turning into a silly comedy show though.
It is good fun and makes me laugh, but on Sunday apart from the Exige there was nothing else related to cars or motoring. The boat thing was a laugh, but hardly anything for a petrolhead
We need a new motoring programme aimed more at cars and trackdays rather than humour.

Would it not be boring if all they talked about were cars? There's only so many cars released in a year and I personally don't want to see a Kia Picanto or Toyota Matiz being driven around a track. I want exotic cars that I can dream about and some fun thrown in too. I like TG's races across Europe and them building stuff to compete with each other simply because it's a good laugh.
I remember TG as a kid and to be honest it was boring as hell with some beardy bloke droaning on about how great the new Vauxhall Astra is
Clarkson obviously wouldn't win any F1 championships, but he does look like he's driving for the fun of it and at least the cars are handed to the Stig to see just what they can do.
5th Gear is just sh!te and last nights episode with the reverse shootout just proves that. They are struggling for ideas and trying (desperately) to compete with TG.
Just my 2p worth

Top Gear has plenty about cars, its just it has other stuff too.
If every week they just had a review of 3 supermini's and a piece on a sportscar you'd get pretty bored. I think the formats excellent - a good balance of fun entertainment, chatshow and some interesting stuff for petrolheads. Its an hour long show remember - and IMO theyve got the balance just right, I rarely get bored watching.

I guess it depends on whether you're interested in watching a programme about cars, or want to be entertained by a MTV Jackass type show.
5th Gear doesn't have very good script writers, but was enjoyable and informative.
Top Gear was a bunch of blokes pratting about.

I think you guys are being a bit harsh... I mean any motoring program on TV has to be good. The 5th gear program is a bit 2nd rate (can anyone tell me why Plato has an ego to rival M Schumacher, when he has an ounce of the mans ability) but at least the other presenters are motoring enthusiasts and in light of all the "save the enviroment/ban the car" rubbish we seem to be constantly bombarded with from "Lefty" media, we need to get behind people that are on our side.

I also think 5th gear is rapidly going downhill, mainly due to the actions of that retard needell, who feels the need to donut, spin, drift, burnout every car he gets into, its so predictable its embarrasing.

A TV program just about cars is inherently boring. It needs to be spiced up with donuts, handbrake turns, drifts, etc..
Might as well have a program about Steam Trains
I for one want to be entertained

At least Clarkson admits he's not a great driver.

Tom Ford,
thinks throwing himself accross the bonnet of every car he reviews is cool
no its not , its crap, is is supposed to be his trademark???
I could suggest better, a nice wheelspin over his head!!! now that would make it mildly amusing for a few seconds.

Chris Gooffy, IIRC.
Boring As Sh!te, but I used to watch it.
Didn't like the new TG when it came out, but find the format un-beatable (for now).

I stopped watching 5th gear some time ago. No real interesting content for me. Cars going backwards. What has that to do with anything?
Top Gear. Going the same way. Clarkson is often way OTT and off beam.
Car racing rock climbers/car racing jet ski or whatever/cutting the top off a people carrier and sitting in it through a car wash...........
I video it now so I can fast forward and cut out the crap. Condenses it down to 20 mins on average.
Just MHO.

they really do need to think about what they want to show on their rather than just trying to copy TG.
They should stick to reviewing the reasonably priced cars that TG cant be bothered with IMO

They really just cant pull that off as an hour long show - they need to go back to 30 mins (20 without ads) and just have a car review, a shoot-out at that track and one other feature and leave it at that.
