Threads Asking For Help/Advice
#31
That is quite a p!ss-off as well when you remember someone's birthday and post a thread up and,he/she just says at the end- Thanks all!He could always say-"Thanks Mr/Mrs A + the rest."
Same for advice etc.Rather than thanking the best advise, some peeps thank all and **** off!
How rude!
Unless they take everyone's advice. As if in "shirt" thread, the poster of the thread will buy all the shirts from George,Primark,Burburry,Austin Reed etc and will wear them all! (presuming if he thanks all)

We don't have to read all this stuff!
I have posed questions in Tech (sorry Pete) and have enjoyed all the responses, followed quite a few with great posative effect.
I have leant a lot too.
When i read (deliberatly) a question i feel qualified to answer (please note) then i answer freely. If I get a thankyou in some form then that is good and I too hate bad manners.
Hold a door open to a person with kids in a push chair etc is usually met with a smile and 'thats nice' look, unless they are quite young and then it is a bit hit and miss if you gat a look. Over 70's go the same way, but so what?
I would like to see these polite manners continue, but the world (UK) is loosing it to as previously stated, Blair's ME, ME, ME (first).

Castrol - spot on. It's a bit like people asking you directions. Imagine if you told them the way and they walked/drove off without a word
Just in case they will do that, I get my retaliation in first now and give them the wrong directions

Well said Graham,
On the boards I just give the advise without feeling I need thanks for a reply.
It might be crap advise.
I'm sat here browsing because I've got sod all else to do anyway...
However..
so called "mates" doing the same thing after they ask for help and I freely give up my time and effort to fix their sorry bit of machinery winds me right up.
It would be nice to get "anything" in return, a handshake, a 6 pack of tinnies, even just a simple "thanks mate" with a smile, but as DBMark says it all seems just too much these days and they just **** off into the ether and you never hear from them again until something else breaks.

A bit of politeness always helps - like acknowledging when someone DOESN'T dive out in front of you when travelling in the oppposite direction and they want to pass parked cars. A quick wave to say thanks for the courtesy...
My favourite (and my wife has told me off for this...) is when I hold a door open for someone and they fail to acknowledge me is to say in a loud voice "It's a PLEASURE, don't MENTION it!
