I still think a mile is a lot, and that it is pretty tight of an insurance company to insist on it. It means that if someones g/f lived 4/5 of a mile away then they would not be able to leave their car outside her house but always walk to and from there.
All companies are different though and 100 yards seems a bit of a short distance, but there you go.

If you got your car stolen on the public highway its fine surely? It's irrelevant if its garage or not, that refers to its parking when you are at your residence/home address. If you are out seeing friends, staying with girlfriend etc its covered as thats not the car permanent place of residence i.e home which you specified on the insurance document.

Very Useful Thread....
Just called my insurance co. and it turns out that my policy stated 'garaged' and it's just cost me an extra £18 to change it to 'driveway'... but at least if some ****** does steal it I'm now covered (best £18 I've ever spent)
