by law if you offer them £5 a week they HAVE TO take it
the other thing is that if they have sent the baliffs in they have a added charge on top dont mean to make it worse for you but its best being honest
i only know this coz my brother left his car untaxed on his front for a few months a traffic warden left a note on it saying it must be taxed (even though he wasnt using it) so he ignored it and left it there he got another one and ignored that then someone knocked on his door and said it would be towed away if he didnt tax and back tax it, that went to county court and he had to pay 200 in baliff fees also the back tax for 3 months and tax for future use. its a con this country!

Did he declare it SORN? My guess is not.

I dont like to question your judgement here but if I get a parking ticket I pay it straight away and also lodge a complaint at the time (if I dispute it)...you get a receipt so always have proof of payment. To let a couple of parking tickets roll into a £5K bill is just plain careless and not to be too frank, stupid.

You must of realised that this was not going to go away.... just so we all know, how long has this been going on for??

Hi mrtheedge2u2, I can see where you're coming from but to pay the fine when you know it shouldn't have been issued would be stupid too. They rely on people doing that rather than contesting things.

Furthermore, the procedure to appeal is so difficult and time consuming that it's easy to just give up. It's not a couple of tickets - it's 14 tickets which have been issued for the same reason and these all come to £420.72 each.

This has been going on for the better part of 9-12months. It is up to the discretion of the council to stop action but they haven't exercised this and as a result the original ticket amount has increased with each letter etc they've sent out whilst my appeals have taken place.

Can we keep this on topic - the guy has asked for help, he's got enough on his plate without folks giving him a hard time.

The saddest part of this story for me is how a council who is supposed to look after it's constituents can justify a tenfold increase on a £500 bill. I'm sure you have a large part to play in this not getting sorted earlier but for goodness sake, how can any decent human being believe that it's ethical for a £500 bill to become £5000. I know it's been said a million times before but this country is knackered, the agenda is being set by low life scum and weak willed politicians that govern to stay in power instead of what's best for the country.

CHeers Kevin

it's been increased more than tenfold Original tickets are £30 then each gets totalled to £420 and there are currently 14 in dispute. I would've paid unless I honestly thought they were issued illegally.

I've witnessed several occasions where wardens will circle my car for a good few minutes before moving on. Make's you wonder what they're doing or saying over their radio's. I don't know if I'm being screwed over or what ?!

Hedehog has kindly passed on an email for Neil Herron who I believe has had experience in dealing with council parking fines. Dropped him an email yesterday and am just hoping that he'll be able to help.

 Hedgehog

cheers
