I accept the posts saying I should drive round every corner expecting something waiting. I feel its also important to mention that the cars to my left were not slowing down or queing they were travelling below the national speed limit as they had just joined the road and would be turning off soon. If I see other cars slowing down or driving with caution for any reason then i always follow suit with the reason that there must be something ahead. In this case none of the cars slowed down or showed any reaction to the cones, in my opinion it was because none of them saw the cones either til they got round the corner. I was doing round 65-70 and there was 4 cars to my left, 2 behind, 1 along side and one immediately in front(in left lane). There was no vehicle visible ahead, not because visibilty is poor but because there was no car on the road as there must have been a large gap in traffic. I thinks its important to mention that this is a dual carriageway and visibilty round the corner above the barriers was fine, but the cones are much shorter than the barrier and as said not reflective. I have been driving down that road for years and have never seen any padestrains, kids playing on bikes etc.
But will go around with more caution in future. I accept that it may be partly my fault but that doesn't excuse the poor coning and lack of signage. If what he did was more than adequate then why do proper police even bother doing things more thoroughly and why does the highways agency warn of raodworks on motorways etc, surely they could save themselves a fortune and just place cones and nothing else.

To late defending yourself now, Your a maniac on the road, a danger to us all. Stop driving now before you kill yourself or others.
Oh yes, and next time, it might just be a child playing in the middle of the road.
SLOW DOWN YOU MANIAC !!

well shouldnt matter how fast he was going if there wasn't a warning stating an obstruction or lane blocked then it isnt right.
mybe he was going to fast but who here hasn't? maybe most of us wouldn't of posted about it

And
Why would a child be playing in the fast lane of a dual carriageway on a blind bend in the dark? And surely, the parents would need the verbal kicking, not the driver who failed to expect it. And just a quick note... Your grammar is ****e too!

Even slowing to 50 on a dual carriageway fastlane could cause problems for people behind.

So the next car that goes around the corner slams into the car doing 20mph, as that driver should have done 20mph JUST IN CASE another car was doing the same.
You/noone needs to slam the brakes on, just approach the bend at a sensible speed in the first place.
There's a big difference in how fast you know you can drive round a bend and how fast you can stop if you suddenly find the road blocked.

Just to clarify, PCSO's earn nearly as much as police officers however their training is at times woefully inadequate.
Special constables work for free and alongside regular officers and generally know their stuff as well as them.
And I don't think you've got much chance of them paying for the damage either!

For some really odd reason it is supposed to save money.
Imagine taking your car in for a service and being told. "No mate the mechanics are busy. The receptionist is paid nearly as much as the mechanic so he/she will do it for you instead, they haven't got a clue what they're supposed to do so it won't take long"
