New TT brochure...
Have to admit that the new boxter looks better, and the S2000 has won lots of customer surveys now....wasnt it Top Gear No1?
Gone are the days of 97/98 when a classic was better handling than a Elise/Boxter and so on, other marques have moved on.....

My pal just got a TT 225, always liked the look of them and thought they were pretty nippy but my S2k literally ripped it a new one. Not impressed with them, defo needs chipped or get a 3.2

Yeah the S2k is great!
I am happy with the V6 DSG though, and it will humble an impreza away from the lights in launch mode (it is actually called launch mode in the manual), albeit with the scoob catching up again real quick. No clutch destroying scoob launch, a perfect gettaway.
There are some good points to some Audi technology, if people looked passed poser, tosser and homo car!

A bit shallow, and tarring every TT driver with the same brush i know, but ever since that day, I've hated them. Dont do it, Its a ***** car.

A mate has a TT which has been chipped to 260 bhp, it simply doesnt feel that fast atall, ive driven it many times and still left thinking where are all those horses going.
Bit puzzeled with the post saying the new TT not being that fast at only hitting 60 in 5.7 seconds.... in my book thats bloody fast!! lol

Hi all
Thanks all for your comments.
I took the TT for a testdrive this weekend and it was amazing! No lag on acceleration and handle around corners felt solid and sure feeted.
I'm going from a small 1.4 car to the TT so it feels bloody fast to me :0), My only concer is theres a new shaped TT coming out and I wonder how it will effect the resale value?
Regards
Niall

Oh the irony of Impreza owners slating other cars for their "image"
All cars have an image, ignore it and just buy what you want, TT is a fine looking car IMO.

so many of these comments from impreza owners!
I have to agree with dreamweaver.
I would rather be branded a hairdresser than be branded chav scum with no style.
Anyway, the TT does a fine job of making for enjoyable driving everyday.
My TT is being repaired and the wife wanted to go out for a drive in a convertible rather than the evo which has a very fixed roof, so I went and borrowed my sister's S2000 which used to be mine.
Now that I am used to the audi, I could not believe the difference. The ride height for a start. The S2000 feels on the floor and is not a comfortable place it be. It is very claustrophic and bland by comparison, and the seats are rock hard. Yes my wife is heavily pregnant, but even i was noticing how much less comfortable the S2000 is in comparison.
You can say the TT is less of a drivers car, and I totally agree, but if it is your everyday car, then for 90% of your driving you aren't driving to be enthralled byt the dynamics of the car you are probably just going somewhere.
In that situation, the TT is much much faster, not the 3.2 which is not as quick, but the 225. No lag, and lightning response from the throttle. Fool proof handling (after the recall for the spoiler). The inside is a much nicer place to be, the bose stereo is excellent, the roof mechanism has one latch not two, the trim feels better quality, the seats are heated and more adjustable. There is an electric wind block. It has torque!!!
It has 4wd traction in the wet. It has traction control which you need when the turbo is chipped.
You can't criticise it in relation to other cars unless you have driven both at length, and I have. All I can say now is that even as a driver, for most driving I much much much prefer the TT to the S2000, and it even has more boot space!
Still makes me laugh when the suabru is one of the ugliest cars on the road (bar the 22B of course) that you can slate a car because of what other road users think of the drivers. Ironic.

Has to be said the new TT looks pretty good with big alloys, but looks rubbish with the smaller ones. The old TT still has a much 'cleaner' shape as well.

The two subects are unrelated, if you want to start a thread about 'how ugly the Impreza is' then go ahead. I'll agree with you. Don't own an Impreza, don't own a TT but have opinions on both.
The fact is that the TT once had the 'wow' factor, it lost it some time ago through familiarity. Despite being unfashionable in the extreme it still has an interest for me because it's so unlike any other car on the road and it's interior is a great original piece of design. Doesn't stop it from being labelled by most as a posers/hairdresser/fashion victim car though.
WHAT HAS THE IMPREZA TO DO WITH THIS THREAD, IDIOTS.

In what way is the 3.2 v6 slower than the 225 when you are just "going somewhere" rather than out for a "dynamic" drive (where I could see that the extra weight would make an understeering nose heavy car even worse)?
Oh, and for the record, the new TT is still predominantly a front driver (just like the old one)
Its probably fair to say that there is no real comparison between an S2000 and a TT. Different cars with a different target market.
