Thought I recognised your name. I used to spend a lot of time on MIG as well! Mine is just an XE with gas, seems to do the trick. Gaz D does deserve respect with an 11.8. Chris S will be in the 11's soon enough as well when he finishes his rebuild. Like you say, both built without big cheque books.

Exactly. It's human nature to 'have a go'. Should have bought an Audi diesel if you wanted to keep a low profile out on the roads.

There are a fair few classics around me generally driven by younger guys (ie under 25)
+ 1

I'm not a chav, even in my saxo vts i wasnt a chav.

In fact, chavs actively dislike me as i'm a 'metal head' and can seen wearing dodgy band t-shirts, looking greasy and listening to cheesy power metal while drivin

id rather not melt my clutch doing full bore starts \ crash (i'm far from a good driver and know it) \ get caught speeding so i let the racers have there fun

Although watching Fast n Furious 3 in a cinema full of chavs (and a car park full of hot \ warm hatches) DID make me want to get a dump valve and some new wheels for the ole scoob and show off a bit.. i'll blame being relatively young for that

Havent met a scooby yet that can keep pace with my hot hatch ,especially not a lowly wrx .Maybe you need to rename your thread.Nevermind hot hatches, theirs diesels out there that will give a wrx a run for its money. The elitist attitude your taking about other brands of cars will see you left red faced at the lights very soon my friend

A well set up and well driven vts could easily give a standard wrx a go on a back road. Assuming the scoobys being driven by a bit of a muppet of course.

Yawn it up Bubba, when i had my 106gti running its throttle bodies there were plenty of middle aged turbo owners getting a beat down on the back roads of Perthshire. Yeehah!

I posted somewhere else similar to this thread, about Civic type R's. I think the reason that they try it on, Is purely because the Impreza is such a popular car, an icon maybe. They want to test their cars against it to see how they compare.
That and the fact that for whatever reason they cannot have an impreza - insurance costs, cost of buying, running costs etc.

I love porsches, I could never afford a half decent one, however, I'd love to have a run in with one to see how my STi fares.

Theres bound to be hundreds of threads on Porche/Ferrari Forums saying " Why do Subaru/Evo drivers always try it on". Its exactly the same reason.

ive even asked people who have done this tried racing etc they mostly half of them said they did it cos they want to make you accelerate so they could hear the sound the car makes although i never bite tho dont get me wrong i do put my foot down from time to time but only on my own never against another person you get in a lot of trouble for doing things like that these days

This is Scoobynet, not Saxonet. No matter how much I disapprove of this kind of thread I'm scooby 'till I die.

Or at least until the last of the classics hit the scrapyard.

So I SHALL "yawn it up", ta.

theyre weak as ****. engines to powerful for the drivetrain etc. arent they always falling apart unless you upgrade everyhting, then making it not standard?

my point is that for the build price performance looks, they are tough to beat... i know aht id rather have.

Might be looking at getting one when I get rid of the scoob, fair play the gear boxes are a bit weak when modded, but they are proper pocket rockets

So youve owned one then?I think most problems surface with the pulsar when they are modded, which 99.9% are.As a standard car they are extremely reliable when looked after. Most turbo cars have problems when modded. If you can find a standard pulsar (you,ll be lucky) then bang for buck i dont think it can be beaten.Thats proper value for money.
