Now, theres a good name for a car, the "Gobsmacker"
I'd say gobstopper. Everyone shuts up and stares in disbelief at how quick it goes up the strip

Well, I certainly missed Andy at the Pod yesterday.

It was good to see Pavlo their with his new coloured car (Not sure about it)
Followed him out of the curcuit on the way home, gave it a bit of a blip and
just went

The event seemed a little dull this year with a few of the big hitters missing

Alan, Gobstopper is RCMS cars new name.
I'm not sure I can compete without my car having a name

The drive home with the car stuck in 2nd gear wasn't as fun as the drive out in the morning.... But Paul still managed to scare the pants off me with a quick blast

Andy at least its wine, think you are on that methanol sometimes

So a word on defensive, yes I map for RCM (as I do for others) and yes I had a hand in last years Team Ice car, yes Dave Rowe was heavily involved when it came to setting up the "functions" since his experience was essential to cut out any learning curves that may otherwise have existed. The cohesion of the end result demonstrated that was the right approach. For the record I am a total independant, for me quality always comes first and RCM are quality.

As far as this years efforts are concerned I have no need to defend anyone or anything, my interest in taking up some of Andy's comments is nothing more than a desire to see facts portayed as facts and accurately so, and, to be honest, it does gripe whan I see someone as talented feeling the need to put down the efforts of others. Credit where its due always , we should rename this the "Jekyl and Hyde" thread maybe.

So for the sake of accuracy this is the "work log" of the Team Ice car last year bearing in mind it wasn't finished until the week before TOTB.

1) Car ran for the 1st time at TOTB 2005 with 9.94

2) Car ran at USC (Ultimate street car) with 9.84

3) Car ran at Jap Show and came 2nd in the final hampered by a slipping clutch.

4) Car has then done x4 magazine articles and numerous journalist rides and test sessions at Bruntingthorpe.

That was 2005.

Car was then stripped and has been up-specified for 2006 in conjunction with the RCM Sequential gearbox. In this car its a manual shift only for this year, the Gobstopper uses a pneumaticaly actuated paddle shift system controlled through the Motec M800 ecu.

The Gobstopper has been built as an RCM demo vehicle to flagship their technology and serve as a test bed for customer engine builds. It has to look good like any advert for a business and to that end it will be at the NEC at the Max Power show on 29th June, requested by K&N (filters)) as a static display which is why it looks as good as it does!!!

So all that said ... Andy there were clearly some disapointed people hoping to see your car run well at the weekend but there is a next opportunity that Elvington on July 2nd of course. Given the inlet manifold problem that occurred fingers crossed for the Team (and yourself) that it goes back together smoothly.

Assuming I can get up there then I also look forward to seeing it back in action. (no Sti5 in time though)

Spoil sport Bob Just get a good wind up going and you have to go and spoil it by using all those 'facts' in your defence

Had the car out today for an hours thrash around the country roads, it's going fine The in-dash performance monitor recorded 60-95mph in 2nd gear in 1.3 seconds, 95 to 125 in 3rd also took 1.3 seconds.
Had wobbly knees after the event anyway which is a better indicator than any dyno

See you on Sunday

No, thats because its out running low 9 second quarters most weekends If I just kept it in the garage looking pretty I'm sure it would be 110% reliable

The difference here is that I don't mind doing my development work in public, it gives a clearer picture of whats actually involved in retaining the title of the UK's fastest Impreza for something like 200 of the last 201 weeks

Thats because the USA are likely to see the car running about as often as we do

ps Maybe you need to check out Cosie Convert in the "Proven Power" forum on Nasioc, rather than looking in the 'members' ... lol... gallery
