[QUOTE=rb5 286

am i correct in thinking that these HGV's are breaking the law by coming out into the outside lane???[/QUOTE]

It was only 2 lanes HGV'S can use the second lane but never the third.

The company/driver involed is called Pollock Scottrans basen in Edinburgh i belive a google search would find this out and then you could get the company's phone No and give them a ring

One reason why you should NEVER stay along side a long vehicle - especially when there is no space infront to get past it. This includes LWB vans and rigid trucks as well as artics. It's not against the law, but it is common sense for your own safety.

Lingering along side puts far too much blind faith in truck driver seeing or knowing you are there - especially considering they may be a bit tired or still munching through their truck stop sandwich

So was he deaf as well as blind then?? .... didnt hear the car horn??

Also the fact that the idiot swerved into the outside lane a few times makes it very clear that this was not a genuine overtaking manouvre but a blatant attempt to intimidate the people involved!

Be in no doubt that the pr**k knew the cars were there!!

If it was not for truck drivers you would not have a keyboard to be a warrior on yes a certain % of truck drivers are noobs but dont tar them all with the same brush. I can read and write and have a proper job not in the Haulage industry i might add, but im a professional Driver , driving 30k+ year, I was born into the haulage industry driving artics at 14 ,learnt to drive at 13 in a 18 wheel rigid tipper, i know more about trucks/ haulage industry than seems you could fit on your little finger. These guys are paid poor amounts for the type of job they do /long hours, staying away from home all week missing there kids and wives. If the haulage industry went on a national strike you would be fooked, remember the petrol crisis ? don't knock truck drivers, alot are like subaru drivers they like modding and making there trucks look nice

Talk about stereo typing

Not a lorry driver and with all due respect don't wish to be, but back to the main point of the thread the driving was certainly of the aggresive nature, i'm sure some of them don't realise the damage they could do if their tactics were to go wrong.

Glad everyone's ok, all be it a bit shaken, but as mentioned before it does happen else where, just not to this degree.

Hope you get a result.

Thanks for the comments chaps.

I'll pass on the details of the guys that have sent me PM messages to Plod and insist that they get moving on it.
Thanks to you all for giving the info and being prepared to help out.

I called the company that the lorry belongs to, thay tell me thay know who the driver was from the trailer number which is clear in my pictures and the vid clip.
They were absolutly horrified when I described what had happened and that there was video and photographic evidence of the incident.
They assure me that action will be taken as this sort of driver conduct brings the company name into dis repute.

Seeing the vid clip has started me shaking again, when he pulled infront of us I told the wife and kids to hold tight as I came onto the brakes as I was sure he was going to hit us.
As he pulled over into the off side lane he also took his foot off the gas and started slowing down which gave me even less room to brake in to avoid him.
I guess he had to slow to avoid hitting the Imprezza infront of him.

God I'm glad I've reported it.

Plod seem keen to presue it as there are indipendant witnesses to the incident which makes it more likely that the CPS will take it to court (they need a better than a 50/50 chance of securing a conviction)

I'll keep you posted as things develop.

It's good to see fellow Petrol Heads sticking up for one another.

Vive La Net!!!

Chaz.

Pollock Scotrans have a high reputation, as they are always MAJOR winners at Truckfest Scotland. And most other Truckfest events,I hope this divvy gets Hauled over the coals and gets his license revewed/revoked,the rb5 gang will have had a canny day at the NBO. Only for 1 driver and the weather to spoil it. But it could of been worse , thank god it was not. 6 killed at Penrith including a 4 month old baby a full family wiped out

ur a fecking ****. My dads in fact is not thick or fat. Dont steriotype(how ever you spell it. im in a mood now so dont care)

These drivers do make mistakes, like you do in the office but you can use tippex or the delete button, these guys cant. They do a very tiring job keeping the country going.
Fair dos, maybe this guy is a **** or could be a genuine mistake and wasnt really sure how far the car was too him.
If he hit the car and, god forbid, killed the passengers, he has to live with that. If you spell a word wrong, you just erase and start again, go home and forget it.

After he failed to intimidate the two leading cars he braked hard to let them pass and voilently swung into the off side lane nearly killing me and my family, It was only my foresight that led to me backing off when I saw what was happening to the other two cars that he did'nt collide with me.
The video seems to show differently. You braked when the lorry first pulled over, but then appeared to accelerate to close the gap when it pulled back into the nearside lane. Presumably in an to attempt to stop it pulling back out? (You even moved over to the right to give yourself more room!)

Any sensible person seeing what you could obviously see playing out in front of you would have pulled even further back, not played chicken with an artic with your family in the car!

I'm not defending the lorry driver, that was quite blatant intimidation, but your actions seem equally as stupid.

I like playing devil's advocate
