Dissapointed to hear the stand results but I had a really good day and thought it was well worth the drive from holland to come along. Hopefully will be able to come next year too.

that would be the LADS stand(thank you mate)

I think that over all it was a great success, another great NBO,

The tannoy system really needed extending to the bottom corner of the field, as we really could not here a thing down there. but given the late notice of change of area, I guess this left time for restructuring.

All the club stands where good this year, If i am being honest the logistics, work, and cost involved providing an awe inspiring 'club' stand with just one car has got to be greatly reduced when compared to just the logistics involved with a 10/15/20+ car club memebrship stand, and I dont think this was possibly considered. This is constructive critism and not a winge honest

Well done to Smiles and crew on the win, thought you were going to attack me when I walked into your stand and said "is this where the subaru VANS club is"
shame you never visited us though guess you knew you had first in the bag Seriously well done guys and gals

great day out only dampened by the rain

Mick,

I hear where your coming from with the PA system (Pun intended), but we are limited to what we can achieve.

We hire the PA system using the money that is collected for the charity. The more we spend on the system, the less the charity receives. I would love an 'all singing all dancing' system with speakers all over the field, but these cost a lot of money to hire.

If anyone has a PA System with either wireless speakers or a couple of hundred yards of speaker cable, please feel free to donate it for the day for next year.

ahhhhhh

I thought it was more to do with the impromtu move, see I know nothing.

Seriously we missed all the show and shine announcments and moddified class calls, well to be honest we missed entering our cars in anything, we were reliant on people phoning us to let us know what where and when.

It was a relitively level field without obstructions so paper cups and strings next year

Hopfully some one in the great SN empire can help out for next year

Talking Keep up the comments

all are noted and will be acted on

Stand of Day competion is only in its 2nd year and again like every thing else in the NBO ten year plan will evolve into a bigger and better event next year

to set the record Straight Two of the Judges were from suppliers ,1 was from TTS, and 1 was from TTS and CS .

so out of 4 judges there was no fix, favourtism , friendship ,backhanders etc and thanks to the T##ser who sent me a n abusive PM and even set up a new user name to vent his frustations as he didnt win !! Your a sad git who should get a life !!If i had 12 Fu##ing tropheys would you be happy ??

I like to think of my self as too much of a professional and Gentleman to respond to you direct

the event is set up by enthuastics for all of the Subaru Communuity and will continue with the winning formula

Next years planning is allready underway and will continue with the S&S and Club Stand of the Day and a clear criteria /tips will be wrote in the <vision> for the club stands to aim for .

Excellent comment on PA system so if anyone can help by lending one out to us that would be great as they are very expensive to hire

If any club has access to any event /club insurance please let us know as its expensive now for the Event .

Every one seems happy with the Venue

parking

marshalling (thanks to Polar wear for the jackets and T-Shirts )

Our excellent DJ

Judgeing the S&S

Judgeing the Stands (apart from one person)

New layout of the field with stands around the edges (indepentants in the middle)

Access to the Field

Weather (any suggestions /move to spain /any hot country)

cost of admission

more fundrasing ideas (ps Lewis on disply)

keep them coming

Lordy

Just got round to reading this thread and, as the “elder statesman” for the van… sorry…Wagon owners, felt I should offer my personal response.

Firstly, a comment to RB5 286 (post 30)

Some interesting points there. We travelled some 300 plus miles to NBO and, as you say, the logistics of getting people from all over can be a significant challenge, and we found that this year, having to adapt our display to account for non-attendees/unplanned attendees. The stand was going to be colour co-ordinated but we soon had to give up on that one (not a problem for you, of course).

I myself have great respect for the opinions of the RB5 OC – whenever I am at a show where there is an RB5 presence, it is clear from the display that these “ltd edition” cars are cherished by the owners, and therefore give a good account of Impreza ownership. Everyone I have met from this club has always been friendly and welcoming. I have even been involved in taking piccies for you at the RB Memorial relay. You are great representatives both for the Subaru community and for the memory of a great and well-loved man.

Secondly, a comment to RB5 245 (post 60)

No offence taken. But, anyway, here’s an explanation of why we were there. Some of us van drivers, sometimes considered outcasts in the Impreza community, spend a lot of time taking the p**s out of ourselves, so we can hardly expect others not to do the same.

We certainly entered into the spirit of the event. It was our first-ever organised gathering (why bother, you might say?) so we were all quite enthusiastic, what with producing tee shirts, banners, stickers, number plates, and even booklets on the 555 Wagon Squadron. We were on a mission to promote the Wagon and the NBO was our first stab at that process. In an attempt to attract possible recruits, we had “Wagon Corner”; the “colour co-ordinated swing ball fun bash” (for the kids of course); and the “pin the tail on Scooby doo” competition, where you could win prizes after a donation to charity. This was all about “something to do on the stand” apart from get bored looking at Wagons. The rain didn’t help with this, of course. However, we felt we did our bit towards the NBO vision. You may feel we got it wrong, and that’s okay. We got a lot of fun out of doing it and didn’t physically hurt anybody (I think). There may, however, be a few with mental scars after reading about our silly adventures.

You would not have understood all that because, as you quite fairly point out, ours was the only stand you never went inside for a look around.

I’m glad you felt the trip from Holland was worthwhile, and that you are planning a return visit next year, as are we.

I've been reading this thread with much interest and thought i should contribute

The NBO this year was IMO the best one yet apart from the weather and i have been to them all

One thing that could have wrecked the day was the change of field which made things hectic for a while but it soon all came together which was down to the determination of the individuals/ helpers who make this event happen

I had a great time looking at all the stands which were brilliant to say these least and i thought the show'n'shine went down well. My own car was on the wagon stand and yes it won stand of the day which was great but i was would've been happy to park with the wagons and chat to like minded people regardless

This thread was started by Lord H himself asking for feed back which is great if it's constructive and furthers the NBO vision but i am a bit saddened by some of the points made and can't believe someone has sent an abusive PM to John.

I think a few are missing the point so i would like to raise the following.

The people who are behind the NBO ie Lord H/ Ninnybobs TTS/ C.Scoobs and countless others spend an awful lot of time [months and months if not most of the year] making the event happen and without their efforts it would have died but it hasn't and next year is NBO 5.

It is is probably the biggest scoob gathering each year [i have been to all the scooby shoot outs BTW]

It's a charity event and £10 K+ has been raised over the past 4 years IIRC
which is incredible

So lets support the event and the people who make it happen.
I'd like to say thanks to them and think whats been acheived so far is brilliant

I am stunned that someone has sent an abusive PM to John, the whole idea of the NBO is a fun day out for all!

To be that upset that you did not win is very sad!

We nearly lost the Blackpool Big One due to a winging idjit last year!

I am sure that John wont let this trip him up!

Here's to next year bigger ans better than ever

Plans are in progress for SMACS stand already

Cheers Andy

The main local stands there, would of been TTS or CS followed by the West Yorksire lads.

Did you enjoy the day? i did ,i never won anyting or the stand even after all the effort that was put into it by other members of the TTS.

Was disapointed but what the **** i had a good day and so did 99% of the people who where there.

Yes there may be a few teething problems but they will be ironed out and this show will just get bigger and bigger.

well done J H and Martin ,also the full NBO committe for a job well done

J H dont let certain ******* get to you

Talking Great ideas ############

good comp is the ice competition, loudesat set up, best build etc

Now I like that Idea

In fact I was quite excited watching peoples faces when the Bugeyes were reving up their cars and looking for flames :

like the idea of competions like that

I was pleased to see lots more people stay on the field this time either maning the Club Stands or entering or watching the excellent S&S which Muddy set up for us

Then appologies for making a rash judgement.

My reasons for not going in were, the entrance seemed to be through the goal posts and pretty well blocked in by cars. From the safe haven of my umbrella I just thought.. Nah cant be bothered and went past.

My mistake it seems

sdc simon as you rightly say we as organisers were well thrown when we got to the main gates and couldn't get in,then we ended up going through the tradesmans entrance only to find the venue/field was different from previouse years we basically took our A4 sheet plan and tore it up and started from scratch which cost us a lot of time in the end it worked out fine we learn't valuable lessons on sunday which we will address for the NBO 05 and like you and others I am suprized that John got a pm (sour grapes if you ask me) At the end of the day 2 worthwhile charitys have gained and we have shown that thing can happen up north instead of everything happening down south next year it would be nice if we could entice a few clubs from down south to venture north for once

My post was no intention of any digs, merely constructive criticism although I was expecting some comebacks - as my wife said, negative and positive feedback is all good.

All my comments were meant to be taken into consideration and hopefully add to make future NBO's better and better. The RB5 OC has supported this event since the beginning and it's location is perfect for us to hold our National Day in conjunction on the day.

I really hope that the PM LordHarding rcv'd was not from a member associated with the RB5 club, if it was then the individual has done this off of their own back and in no shape of form related to the RB5 OC's views.

LordHarding & Co. work bloody hard for this show to be run and I have total respect for all involved

If my comments offended then I apologise sincerely, they were not intended in malice.

i cant believe someone has had the ordacity criticise what john has done.

the guy does it off his own back, asks for nothing except a donation to charity and then gets a personal attack from an idiot.

if it was a case of having to stump up major money to enter into the competition then criticise away.

until then i think people should just be thankful( and most obviously are) that someone has got off there **** and had a go at making something out nothing.

I think every one or at least 99.9999999% of people can't priase John and his friends enough for what he has put together.

John asked for the comments, good the bad and the ugly, Ugly comments really not required. we can all learn from custructive critism, and the NBO needs this to grow and grow into what I have no doubt will be the best gathering of Subaru's and like minded Subaru enthusiast accross the UK and holand.

I agree anything else is completely uncalled for unneccassry and as John has said, dismissed as Childish.
