Totally agree with you there mate - your inside front wheel isn't doing a great deal... Have you got anything lined up yet??

I thought mine rolled a lot with these progressive tender springs fitted - but I think I would have been sea-sick in your car

There's only 1 hour to go and no bids

If they don't sell then might be worth sending him a message and making him an offer...

Just get yourself a set of AST's far better VFM than springs IMHO

Bit late to this thread, sorry:

I was spectating at Silverstone, with a view to borrowing my wife's racing MR2 Mk1 and having a go at the Time Attack myself.

I found it rather strange that the club competitors need only minor safety precautions, whilst the tuner guys have to jump through hoops toward MSA/FIA saefty regs... When they chuck both classes out on track at the same time!

What's the bloody point of that??

Imagines umpty million bhp Skyline bearing down on a hapless stranded GRP bodied Elise at 100+ mph...

Anyway, I'm still hoping Rob sends us an entry form for the next Silverstone round on August 20th!

We only shared tracktime during the practice sessions - when there should be no racing going on.

The safety precautions are there to protect the driver should the worst happen and you lose it on track and hit something solid - chances are with a tuner car you could be running anyrwhere from 500bhp to 1000bhp - hence the need for extra protection.

Hope that answers your question.

No racing allowed when the two groups are mixed, lucky enough we have competitors with their heads screwed on to realise the differences in power and ability levels too, I must say that the atmosphere between all competitors is quite unlike anything i have seen even on club arranged trackdays where everyone knows eachother, Im really looking forward to getting back to Silverstone after Knockhill.

I hope to see the AW11 on track at Silverstone!

As we both know, modern cars are strong enough in road trim

Yay!

As you rightly say, there's no point "racing" as you're out to get your own clean laps to beat the clock. Trying to find your own space on track, etc. I noticed the Fensport Celica sometimes threw away what may have been a bad lap and set himself up at Luffied corner to get maximum speed onto the main straight.

Anyone know anything about the Elise? Is it running a K-series engine, Toyota, or has it swapped to Honda VTEC power? Throttle boddies? Yadda yadda?

Cheers,
Rich.

it was a Type R conversion, with a fair few Aero bits, not sure about suspension but probably a little work there too...running around 210-220bhp, thats why i was quite chuffed to beat it

Yeah, I noticed the rear venturi stuff...Type R conversion you say?

Damn.

Guess I'll just have to try and be quicker than the Peugeot 106. Which was going rather well, actually!

Squizz - you've gotta do it mate - if you can get an entry of course - they may give 1st refusal to those who have participated in at least 1 round already as you need to score in 2 rounds to stand a chance of qualifying for the finals.

However the more interest that they receive this year will hopefully mean a bigger and better event next year - hopefully independant of the D1GB series...

Yeah, I'm deffo up for it.

As long as Karen doesn't muller the car at Pembrey in the middle of June it'll be fun. Obviously it depends on my entry being ratified depending on previously competing cars, etc. I'm itching to get my entry returned as soon as they get sent out!

I've got everything apart from some snazzy "Sonic the Hedgehog" stylee racing boots and them I'm all set.

Promise you big boys won't be mean to our ikkle 4AGE powered mobile chicane? LOL!

Question: How do they get away with organising such an event without it being sucked into the realms of the MSA and requiring a national B non-race license??

Here's the lil' beauty getting the geometry sorted by Andy @ Powerstation:

Squizz - dunno about the MSA thing - I suppose that all events do not need to be recognised by the MSA - all down to the organisers.

Doesn't bother me though

You will be made to feel more than welcome if you get an entry mate - friendly bunch we all are - just keep a watchful eye on your mirrors for loonies like Norris coming past you sideways on the grass......

lol @ Shaun

I would not read too much into it as the line around the circuit very much depended on the settings we had on the car

He was but he had a accident when a drift car's spoiler flew off and hitting his camera. Sadly it damaged his lense badly so he went home early

He did get some pictures but I've not seen them yet.
