Insurance was no more expensive than an Impreza with PPP, however I would imagine that is no longer the same as my insurance is considerably lower (on an 05 Sti) than it was two years back.
Servicing is more, due to double servicing, and also main dealers slightly more expensive than Subaru.
2. I think so. I dreamed of having one for ages, but I really regret not having a new Evo6 Mak 5 or 6 years back, they were a gorgeous looking car.
My car had two owners, 8k miles and was 15 months old when I part x'd it for a BMW 330D (great car, boring as **** ) and that is not unusual. Many people rightly or wrongly put it down to dreamers who can't afford to run it, that was not the reason for me, maybe it was more that the cost to run the car was not worth the pleasure you get from it. In hindsight I should have kept my 03 Sti longer but then I'd have still had the Evo hankering and I just had to get it out of my system.

I'm getting better fuel economy on my IX that my Subarus did, but I have the GSR gearbox so have a 6th gear. Can do 300 miles on 55 litre tank at steady indicated 80mph cruise, with mixed use I usually have over 250 miles on the trip and usually get 50 litres in.
The GT is a nice car, but not for me. I like the AYC, I appreciate the 6th gear because of economy as mentioned, but also for top speed and noise levels. I couldn't live without that 6th ratio on cruise and I have one of the quieter aftermarket 3" exhausts. Additionally, the Mag compressor wheel is still not proven at high boost on the GT, and it is only 20kg lighter. For these reasons I ignored the GTs that had been for sale for weeks and went for a UK car (GSR would have been just as suitable) the day it was advertised and snapped it up.

Had an decent run out in a MR340 yesterday. A few thoughts below. Please note these are just my thoughts
Positives
The performance is truely stunning. Felt no feeling of being detached from the car and can't fault the performance in any way. Was also a lot more comfy (i.e. ride) than I expected.
Fuel economywas not too bad. I did circa 200 miles and had not run out of fuel.
Negatives
I spend time each day in traffic jams and the car (clutch) felt like it would be tiring.
The brakes are average at best for the performance available.
Interior is just OK.
General Comments
I like the looks of the car, its no TME but still has an agressive look to it.
The wife hated driving the car - this is a problem due to the fact we rotate cars to some extent and she has to be happy driving it.
I have a concern about moving back to a car which is more of a target for thieves.
I'm not 100% sure I am want to change my audi (diesel) for the it. This is just my personal feeling and probably reflects my slippage into middle age!. The audi is a little boring but does everything OK. The DSG box is also a dream to drive (50mpg, low insurance, quick enough on the motorway etc).
Next step is to try an STi, though I would prefer to try one with PPP....not sure if this is available or if there are any demo's available to try.

Reflects my observations, and I have to say next car may be an Audi myself.
