CRAIGFIN,

I have nothing but praise to say about mine since the Cosworth Pistons went in ~ yes it is slightly noiser on start up but I beleive thats inherent in the design of the pistons as they have a very short skirt (ooh err) and until the engine is warm do sound a little more noisy.

Cheers

Email off line may be more appropriate?
If it bothers people that much. But valid points though.

First of all I hope the guy with the car to sell finds a buyer ASAP. Good luck mate. I hate selling cars and don't relish the thought of doing it again in the near future. It's such a hassle!

I also enjoyed the views of those who have experience with this model. It is a public forum after all and this is one way educating the masses about the weaknesses of a particular model so that a potential buyer could at least ask the right questions.

SUGGESTION

How about a new 'Private Ads' section where we would pay, say £5, to advertise a car for sale in some kind of read-only topic???

This would allow sellers to advertise without the risk of having their thread hijacked and they could of course enter into a correspondence with prospective buyers off-line. Scoobynet would of course benefit from the addtional source of revenue.

Buyers would be free to post new topics in General such as "Should I buy an STi5???" and us Scoobyneters could offer all the help and health warnings that we see fit.

Just a suggestion.

Peace and love to all.

Cool

Hi Guys,

Just a small point, I think judging by the profile that NickA is actually a "she". Talk about stereotyping a car owner.
By the way NickA is the car still for sale?

cheers

Craig.

Gentlemen

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear We do get steamed up don't we. As CraigFin so rightly pointed out I am a woman!! Sorry to dent all your male egos but women do actually enjoy speed (well with most things anyway!!) I really did not think I was going to cause this much fuss over trying to sell my car. Guess I better put things straight.

I bought my STI from a reputable STI dealer, it was in fact his own car he imported himself and uprated the gearbox, pistons, and exhaust system and had it set up by Interpro on a rolling road because he was thinking about getting serious power out of the car but I came along and fell in love with the car and bought it off him instead. It only had 7,000 miles on the clock when I bought it. No I am not a Scoobynut like yourselves but I have not had any problems with the car and it runs as sweet as a nut. (This is my second WRX). I really love my car and if there was any way around it I would definately not be selling it, but I want to move house and I have no option. I do look after my car I do regualr oil changes, and services (compliments of my dad who is a wizard mechanic by trade) and I polish it until my arms drop off it is a totally awesome car with awesome performance.

Thumbs up

Best of luck selling the car. I bet you had wished that you had sold it privately now. I can't beleive that you have received so much crap from people just for offering youre baby over Scoobynet.
Good luck. Hope someone gets a real nice car that they are more than happy with.

Nicola,

Please don't tell me you bought the car from a certain 'Dave M.'?

Regardless of all the opinnions on this thread, it is very rare that pistons are replaced without their being damage that requires fixing. With this in mind, I think an educated richards felt he should point this out so that a potential newbie buyer was aware of the situation. I dont see that as being out of order.

The technical points raised in the beginning remains perfectly valid things to consider.

To the newbie whose name escapes my mind, I dont know what you mean by horror stories of every model. There are no horror stories involved with any impreza, apart fro the bill you face if you damage 22B body work. The type r is a great choice for individuality and rear drive style antics.

Richards, it is wrong to judge someone by their number of posts.

Look at some of the muppet posters, they often know little apart from how to post on scoobynet so that should be no judge.

In fact the most knowledgable in here probably have about 1000 posts between them. These are firefox, R19KET, Pat and Bob Rawle. If you want good advice, watch out for these guys.

NickA, sorry to hear about the forced car sale, good luck with it and your new home.

Adam,

Erm, it wasn't me who said that I judged Scooby knowledge by the number of posts!!! I could NEVER make that connection! It was Mr.Bush who put the words in my mouth saying that I had said, "knowledge of scoobys is down to how many posts you have made".

And again, as I have already said to Disco, it was part of a knee-jerk reply to our esteemed Mr.Bush who effectively swore at me! In this post, I was referring to when Disco JOINED - about 4 months ago!

I know it's late but, please, read carefully!

Rich.
