Did I watch the same WC as the rest of you ?
JT had an awful tournament. Too often beaten in the air and too many mistakes for my liking. I can't stand RF and he hasn't got the qualities needed to be a Captain (not that this stopped Becks) but he had a great tournament.
Gerrard would be a decent option and maybe with an ENGLISH, passionate manager we might get one of the best squads in the world on paper playing like one. Gerrard didn't have a great tourney but still scored vital goals and in a 4-4-2 with Hargreaves or Carrick holding would have the freedom he enjoys at club level.

Hijack - I don't see why all the fuss about an English manager? Granted this one picks funny formations, but in case people's memories are short he didn't do any worse than the previous 4-5 English managers before him.

Did not see too much of the outstanding talent being demonstrated though did we?
Beckham is a good footballer but he seemed to be unable to fire the others up to play at maximum effort as a proper team.

Englands problem is we usually play a European style of football, if we play the game like its played in the Premiersh!t then I think we'd do 10x better.

Another irony - Sven lost on penalties making him utter crap, useless, a turnip. If he'd won on penalties he would have been the most successful England manager for, erm, quite some time?

what kind of tactic is:
"defend to the hilt, and rely on penalties"
i'd have sooner seen england lose 5-0 but at least attack the goal relentlessly!!!!
as per the first post... 10 more to step down and some new blood.
oh, and leave Joe Cole in the squad, he played his socks off...
**** disclaimer: this is just my view, pls dont flame me...!!!****
