Its enticing/entrapping. If the same car approached or you saw the same car in the distance in multi illuminous police colours you'd slow down, behave and wouldn't dream of trying to race them. It's undercover to lower you into a false sense of security, so they sit back watch how far you will actually go then nick you for it. Just like every other job they probably have to meet targets, like 10 speeding tickets, 2 arrests etc etc so lets not pretend they don't want to actually get you for everything they can.
Yes it makes you think twice, but i know several roads with marked cars on them and everybody sticks to the speed limit so there's never any speeding tickets issued there. This car has been issued to make money, although it will slow people down its not the main aim.
There's also a dark blue R1 in Haywards heath but thats fully police decalled up.

Entrapment isn't illegal, a mate of mine is serving 2 years for selling cocaine to an undercover rozzer and no i don't condone his behaviour.

Is it crap entrapment. You decide to race him or put your foot down, more fool you. Racing on the public highway is illegal, whoever its against.

And the fella who did 140 because a car with tints pulled up next to him? Jesus what a pillock, should have thrown away the key. Does he get scared of anything else that easily?

experienced the goading side of police in fast cars miself in birmingham...the have a black DC05 integra import with full tints.

Shot up behind me as I passed castle Vale estate in birmingham was riding my bumper for about .5 miles swerving around seeming like it was trying to get passed me.

Fearing I was about to get car jacked and having my 2 year old daughter in the car I sodded off as quick as poss. As I got almost out of sight the blue lights in his grill came on but by that point the red mist had come down and the first thing that came into my head was Halfrauds specials or Flea bay anyone can fit those. I then cut through the traffic and entered the A38M where after 2 miles or so of indecent speed I parked my car in its underground garage and went home in the wifes mini cooper.

The following morning, very early, they came to my house and requested that I sit in the back of there fully marked up camera V70 with play back facility. I was then treated to the sight of the back of my Impreza sodding off away from the police car down the bus lane at a rapid rate of knots and asked to comment on my behaviour.

I requested that they rewind the tape to the period before my acceleration which the officer duly did and then played the camera swing from side to side showing the police car in VERY close proximity to the back end of my car. You could even see my daughters had waving about in my car. I explained the reasons for my actions and having considered his option the officer, an inspector I think (still got his details somewhere just in case) gave me a bollocking and told me not to drive like that again.

So the moral of this long an convoluted story is that cars may not always be what they seem................or they might..................either way its probably going to cost you money either in a fine or your car being taken.

I don't regret what I did and put in the same sitiuation I would probably do it again as the thought of a gun being brandished around my daughter by a muppet with a desire for a 20K car is more than I could bear!!!

thats why every single god damn rozzer in this country is a waste of OUR tax payers money.

i have never had any respect for the road traffic police and voiced my concerns recently when filling in a survey from the home office. a gentleman came round (around 55 very well dressed) and asked me to fill in a very thorough survey about police in this area. needless to say a 30 minute survey took me 3 hours to complete, and i was allowed to quote what i pleases as it was in total confidence.

i mentioned about this so called enticing and demanded that something was done about it. im only one person and one opinion, but i think its totally pathetic that mr "chip on his shoulder, powertrip" officer has the right to this kind of behaviour.

i swear if it happens to me where some suspicious looking car is up my **** and i think its a copper or a possible car jacker (even one of those useless car reps that try to cut you up on the a18) il brake as hard as i can and cause an accdent. very selfish point of view but this w@nky behaviour and scare tactics use by the police is disgusting. i pay £100 a month council tax, £200 a year road tax, 48 odd pence a litre on fuel tax/duty(30 litres a week plus) and the government still want to catch us out with their money making schemes, like speed cameras etc.

undercover is fair enough but enticing you to race isnt fair, its below the belt, and 99% of the people its going to happen too will naturally react by speeding up. how dare they use these provocative tactics. its like going upto a twocer and saying "go on mate brick through the window so i can pull you and meet targets."

i for one now will be as un cooperative and nasty/ selfish towards every police officer i come into contact with. i dont care anymore if they are the law.

the gentlemans comments above underline what im moaning about, especially his 2 year old daughter. if something happened god forbid, would the blood of him and hs daughter be on the police hands... no you wouldnt even get an apology.

its a total waste of police funds spending the money on "doing up" cars just to entice/ provoke people. i would love to hear a statement from them explaining why they are doing this and their targets/aims for it all. do they think an experienced driver will just let them put them under pressure and not react? whereas a more inexperienced driver (me included) will react and gain unfair points on their license.

ive just had enough of this kind of thing, and apologise if my opinions are very one sided and/or immature.

andy.

p.s. by doing up cars i meant like "fast and the furious" styling tuning etc, not actual marked up police cars used for catching "real" criminals.

Well i got the full "story" now of the 1.9Gti and the first ever legend of the police Evo in Sussex last night. I know of this guy and he has a lead foot, always has pretty poor cars like VTR's or 205's nothing majorly quick. Anyway apparently and i use the term loosely he saw the Evo approaching in his rear-view and thought he didn't stand a chance so moved over. The Evo then passed and slowed down. Being the kind of person he is, and of course not knowing about the legend of the Evo he hot-footed it after him. After several minutes of him thrashing his pug and the Evo cruising he managed to over-take and was hastly pulled. I heard he was banned for 6 months. He swears blind the Evo was 100% speeding, as he was near-flat out and wasn't gaining much ground.
I would assume as the Evo obviously was speeding to have overtaken him in the first place, no lights or siren he should have fought his corner, but then one law for them, one law for us. All this is obviously rumour so can't say that its all 100% fact.
If someone sits far too close and my 2 nippers are in the car i slow down, and i mean to a snails pace until they back off. It's my major pet hate, to the point where i have jumped out at lights before and shouted several rude words through their window. If however they did the same when i was alone in the car without a doubt i would boot it until it was safe for me to move over and if they are fast enough or desperate enough to go past then so be it. If it turns out to be the police they are breaking the law in the first instance by tailgating which basically means i would fight my corner every step of the way including going to the press.

A couple of things from the Above, firstly, there is no such thing as anonomous survey, however many reassurances belive me big brother really IS watching you!!!! I don't do surveys for precisely this reason!!!!

Secondly in my experience, and I have a lot, not all coppers are bad in fact the majority are just doing their job (and this coming from someone with 2 bans). Provided you a reasonable with them and do not start giving the big un straight away they are normally OK. I have in my youth been pulled for everything from hand brake turning to cutting up a cop car so badly he had to take an emergency exit off an island (was a particularily stupid youth) and only when I really deserved it did I actually get prosecuted.

I actually had a police escort home 2 nights ago as I was coming out of birmingham on the trusty but knackered moped (use it as transport round brum and to get to preza which I keep away from home). The exhaust fell off and was dragging along the floor behind me. As I pulled over and threw the ped on the floor a police car pulled up and looked at me quizically. Not having a good night are we he said followed by how far are you going. I was only .5 miles from home so he said he follow me back. He did add onto the end of his offer that he had just clocked me pre breakage doing 40 in a 30 (Hagley road dual carriageway 12.30AM before you all start) but said he thought I probably had enough bad luck for one night!!

Like I said their not all tossers most are just doing a job!!

The vast majority of traffic police take the easy option when out and about.... they don't go catching proper crims but pull you over for having a "rather loud" car.... *****!

But that being said they aint ALL bad I had a copper spank up behind me in my old M roadster, I was in the outside lane and thought he wanted to get passed so I dropped a cog and hot footed it down the outside lane untill itwas actually safe to pull in.... I left him for dead he then caught up and pulled me over for something the previous owner of the car had done and mentioned nothing of the speed after we cleared up the misunderstanding....

So they're not ALL bad just the majority !

I've met a lot of filth, including several arrests, several times being pulled over. Yes i totally agree some are complete c***'s whereas some are fine understanding people. Always the best option is to be friendly, you'll get the worst possible treatment if you shout your mouth off.
Like us all i expect all this enticement issue is something they personnally don't agree with but need to keep thier boss' happy.

I've seen the silver/bronze Evo on the M23 and M25 several times, usually on the hard shoulder of the M23 around Gatwick, neons on the rear bumper flashing.

I think there's also a metallic brown Honda Accord Estate of some sort doing the Sussex/Surrey M23/M25 sections as I've seen these two in convoy a couple of times in recent months. It might not be a 'patrol' car as such, possibly some rapid response unit or something.
