If you own a Subaru putting your full adress on the internet isn't the brightest thing to do.
Apologies, i thought i was supposed to fit in your kansas ****** bracket.
For the record i am 15 and a half stone.

As you are the one chucking most insults around i think you are the real keyboard hero.
Incedently how do you think you know someones statue from an internet post ?

Where have i said i dont sleep?
I am on my second scoob and have not let the fear of a **** pinching it put me off!

They might not need to come round a third time if they did a good enough job the second time f'wit.
I suppose you are rock hard and can take on the world rocky!
I am a big lad more than capable of taking care of myself but being woken up in the night with a **** waving a knife at me is a different story.
You telling me a car is worth getting knifed for, mind you you sound pretty thick so we will have to think about that one

that was ur post ull see u was the 1st to give the insult !!!!!!!!!

Apologies again, i should have refered to your '****house' bracket which i assumed was aimed at anyone not putting up a fight to save a piece of metal.
Subaru, evo whatever, its still not a good idea putting your adress online.

OK. That being the case i would stand a good chance.
I am all for a fist fight with someone i'm not that keen when weapons are involved.
Having watched Traffic cops tonight and seeing the rambo style hunting knife some ***** were carrying tells me i'm right.
Apologies for any earlier offence.
Nik.

You have to remember that just because there not taking your car at traffic lights doesn't mean there not prepared to use a lot of force. Afterall there is a lot less witnesses when its just you and them in a house and therefore easier for them to get away. The problem is when they come in with weapons. Im all for giving it a go and doing everything i can to prevent my car getting nicked and to be fair i would probably give it a go anyway.. but im quite young relatively and so don't have kids therefore i have less to loose. If i did i'm sure i would be a lot more willing to hand over the keys and get them away from the people i care about

Its all talk at the end of the day I bet most of the people saying let them have the keys would probably put up a fight!

Judge it when or if it happens.. depending on the person and the weapon..

Naturally the police arrested him also and he was done for causing gbh with the intent to cause seriouse harm. The three guys all of which were hospitalised for serious injuries one of which now has permanent brain damage and eats his food through a straw pressed charges and my mate got 3years & £5000 fine. His injuries consisted of two stab wounds to his mid-section and the criminals got....wait for it....3years.

whats that all about?

Something he said to me before his sentance "I bet them *******s wernt expecting that!"

This is for you Raz, respect and cant wait till ya out!

Peace all.
This sort of story (if true) makes me despair at the law. We seem to live in a country where its alright to commit crimes and we are expected to accept it but as soon as someone takes a defensive stand they are the one that is criminalised. Could he not appeal to get a reduced sentence. Was it reported in the press ?

Why should they not burgle for the keys, after all,if they do get caught they will be so lenient on them it's virtual encouragement to commit crime ,......

Don't worry everybody, all these problems will disappear with the introduction of ID cards.
Of course, if they catch them then and other criminals what will they do with them, where will they put them?

hi sort of random first post but when i was last looking at insurance i was told that the insurance was void if the theif had the keys, possibly due to it been much easier for people to pull insurance jobs.

read about similar stuff on a honda breadvan forum a while back and it seems that it is proper organised crime stolen to order rather than joyriding neds.

also a friend of mine was recently offered a choice of a yellow evo8 or a black evo8 for 1000 or 1500 respectively, obviously both were stolen and he turned down the offer but as he's a well known person locally people offer him stuff like that. with those prices for a practically new car how much are they likely to sell say a modifed classic for? not a lot so they might think twice about taking a severe beating for for 500 quid or something they might get for it. so standing up to them might pay off. hope this random drivvle may help

By all means, if you have time and hear them coming in then fair enough, you 'may' have time to react, hence the importance of a good alarm (and using it at night, I know so many people who don't ) also good locks/bolts on your doors.

As has been said take reasonable precautions, stop spouting BS and just accept you'll react the way you react at the time given the circumstances and above all stop worrying and enjoy your car..!

PS a guy around the corner from me had two guy's try kicking his door in at ~7pm demanding the keys to his scoob. He told them to **** off and as they couldn't do the door they left after leaving several holes in the cars roof and bonnet from the jemmie they had..! Sad to say he sold the scoob and bought a new...................EVO..! Good man in not letting the w@ankers prevent him having what he wants..!
I didn't say I could do anything if they are stood over my head while I'm in bed and they have a baseball bat. But I have defended myself before and am quite capable of defending myself again and I don't have tatoo's I work hard for a living have 3 kids and live a decent life. If they can get through my security is one thing but I would be sure I would hear them but I say I would defend myself. The more of these cars that go the more we won't be able to afford to have them. I'm more for hearing good security measures rather than saying just leave the keys in plain sight!!! If they cotton on to that then we might as well all start selling our cars now.

I don't know how id react to someone in the house? Until it happens.

Had two guys try and mug me once when I was 22 and ended up in court for breaking one of their arms. Case got thrown out luckily, as not as much PC in 90's.

But, that situation was just about me! Something im very confident about. But, I have a wife and two kids at home, so.... I cant say what instinct would do.

It strikes me that you could beat them by understanding what they want. - A Subaru key, as easily as possible.

Get a key cut for your car on a nice 'Subaru' key ring and hang it up on hook next to the front door. But do not get it coded to your ecu and do not put a car alarm fob on there.

Either they will set off the car alarm opening the door by the lock, and/or
They will spend too long looking for a simple imobiliser when it does not start.

Either way, you will hear it and also get time to gather your family and call the police.

They will be confused and it will not be to plan.

Best idea I have ever read.

Give them the key, by the time they've left the house shout all your neighbours to wake em up and phone the police!

But if they were violent im sure I would sacrifice my 3wood and 4iron for my scooby!

and they have my fiance to deal with, waking her up is the worst thing anyone could possibly do!

What he didnt say was that the police arent writing to the owners, they are writing to the thieves politely asking them to stop stealing cars. That seems to be about the limits of their powers against these people!
