I wonder if there's a legal age to have parts of your body pierced?

I have 3 daughters... my eldest asked me a few months back if she could have her lower lip pierced for her 17th birthday... I refused! a few months after her 17th birthday, and after she had moved back to Manchester to live with her father.. she went and had it done!( just 2 days ago now) I still think it looks 'tarty'
my 15 year old would love her belly button pierced... no way jose!!!!!!!!!
she already has a small flesh tunnel ( 6mm) in her ear.
Both of my eldest girls do have their ears pierced.
little one (so far) hasn't requested anything to be pierced ( tho she did have her ears done a few years ago... these became sore and have now healed up)
A lot of piercing places will not pierce other body parts (apart from ears) until the child is 16 years old.
IMHO...piercings anywhere other than ears is very tarty.. I think it looks quite ugly !

My mum had a fit when my mate pierced the top of my ear for me and made me heal it up and i was 15!

I blame the 'Spice Girls'.
They started all this 'girl power' sh*t (meaningless slogan), encouraging 11 year old girls to dress and look like prostitutes.
Feckin worthless Chavs..

I had my belly button done at 16, one tattoo at 17 and another at 19, I got my ears done at 4 years old, I'd done well at school or something and was told I could have a treat, I asked for my ears done, Mother thought I would chicken out so played along with it, and was gobsmacked when I sat and let them do it. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
I think 12 is too young for your belly button pierced, anything other than ears should be after your 16 IMHO
She will prob get bored when it hurts her and her waistbands rub on it on bloody puss comes out, then take it out. And theres still hope, quite a lot of peoples belly button piercings grow out, a friend of mine has had it done 4 times, they lasted no longer than a year each. Then again, mines fine 10 years on.

I agree also I'd not want a daughter of mine to have piercing until later in life. I got my ears piecred when I was young and with hindsight it made me look a little rebellious whihc held my career back a bit. Didn't care at the time but do now. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Personally piercings look good on goths/alternative looking people but now every chav wants one they are looking a bit cheap and tacky IMHO.
Might be worth asking why they want one to understand. Is it a case of fitting in or standing out ?

May be getting her ears done at this age is ok ,but belly buttons should be left till at least 15- 16 yrs.

My daughter used to ask at regular intervals.
Standard answer was "No way. Decide for yourself when you are 16"
Funnily enough she was 16 last month and seems to have forgotten all about it.

My Ex threw me out 4 years ago, and since then I'm not consulted on anything she does with them. She tries to lay down the law with me regarding the kids. Since we split, my Ex has gone off the rails a little, which ofcourse is all my fault It's almost like she let her have it done, to get me biting
I see my kids overnight once a week (when it suites her) and I don't want to ruin the limited time I have with them moaning I'm more than annoyed with the situation in general, but as a absent father, there's not much I can do.
Pissed right off!!!
