from what i understand, this wouldnt have been a big issue if it hadn't ruined the 'day after' the wedding. I am a muslim, quite a knowledgeable one too, in Arabic there are 2 terms that have quite an impact in ones lifestyle, aqeeda and madhab; belief and methodology. one can have correct belief but the wrong methodology. i.e. the Iraqis belief to eradicate Western Army from the Iraq but the methodology (detonating themselves) is wrong and is not according to Islam. In Islam one cannot commit suicide under any circumstances!! Anyways, I think a muslim only day is not a bad idea PROVIDED it invites non muslims to introduce non-muslims to muslim culture, to show everyone in Britain that we are not all backpack carrying terrorists. That the person with a big beard is not some mean wife beating arrogant *******!! That the woman in a hijab is not an oppressed woman. I live and work in London, i see different culture everyday, i see the jews and the christians and the Muslims and i see how peacefully they get along. I for one deal with the religious jewish community a great deal and i didn't take the mick out of their black jacket and waistcoat etc when i spotted them in a beach in Wales. That is because I know a bit about their religion and i respect that, so i think a muslim only day is not a bad idea as long as the muslims are inviting others so they can see and understand the muslim culture..and no its not all about bombing!!! plus wouldnt it be interesting to see how you can have fun without alcohol? I think its a perfect opportunity wasted, and the media doesnt help either. I saw the thread and spoke to few people about this day and they all said that the media took it out of context, which is not unusual!!!
In London i'm fine with the car, people will come to me and talk and ask me questions, but whenever i go to suffolk to check on my properties i get weired looks from people, one lady even told me not to park in my own restaurants car park because my car was too noisey, u have to see the number of boy racers in their novas and saxos in that town!!! I told her i'm only here for few mintues i'm just checking on the boys, she said good i dont want you delivering curry in that noisy car. A delievery boy in a newage scooby??!!! just because i'm a young asian kid?? But there are guys from my uni days there that know me very well and i get along fine, but my point is just like not all suffolk folks are weired towards me, we all muslims are not terrorists, and this would've been a perfect venue to get that accross, but like all the other time the muslims go and screw it and the media has a field day!!!!

Well said my man. I like your point about beleif and methodology. What I don't understand is that if you "get it" why "so many" (and I know actual numbers as skewed by the media) don't if it's central to their beliefs. I can only think that either
a) They're being led up the garden path by whoever
or
b) They (in their own minds) feel so desperate that they're able to convince themselves that suspending the principle of belief and methodology is the right thing to do.
And don't worry about Suffolk they don't do out-of-towners. Hell, you get stared at if you drive anything other than a tractor

its a bit of both, some guy out there see there loved ones being ill-mannered by the outsiders and get really frustrated and then the likes of Abu Hamza seizes the opportunity and leads them up the garden so to speak!
Well said about the suffolk folk
