One thing worth noting about the 2.5 block is it has a redline of 7000rpm (standard pistons/rods).
Does yours redline at 8000rpm?
If so your top end speed will be reduced due to lower rev limit on your existing gearbox

Hi there. My STi V4 expired two nights ago!!!! And I only bought it one week ago and on the day it blew it had been to a rolling road and achieved a very respectable 304bhp!
I've spoken to a few of the tuners out there and have had differing advice and prices ranging from only £1300 (bottom end rebuild) all the way up to £5000! I have considered projectra's v7 short engine (the £500 one) but I think I will go for something new or hardly used to ensure some longevity. Thing is, what about the rest of my engine i.e. the heads? The car has done 113000 miles and has a full service history from new (Subaru and Power Engineering) and until it blew it was just perfect. Should I get the heads worked over too?
