No it would not, that is just the browsers cache. That may well help though.

the DNS server cache would probably contain the old dns lookup for the server. They do refresh automatically, however it can take some time to do this, so you can flush the cache, much in the same was as the browser cache, to get the latest dns information.

I'll shut up when you give exact details on the cause and resolution to the problem, and whilst you're at it, detailed specification of the servers used would be nice (Hey, you don't ask, you don't get).

Why exactly do we need the details..?

All that matters is that SN appears to be back. I for one am happy with that..!

Sammy - Pah! I'm teaching the Cannucks how to be rude

As for why do we need the details, well, granted, not all of us care, but some of us tech types are somewhat interested in how things work, and thus when something fails, we're curious as to why it failed and what was done to fix it. In the same manner, knowing the spec of the server(s) used to host the forum is interesting.

Well thank goodness for that! . . .

I was so upset, I even joined the forum at sosuave.com . . . . .And pistonheads is no real substitute . . .

However, at times like these I really felt the Toilets in Kings X station are more efficiently run than Scoobynet!

Thanks for the comments guys

Markus (not included above, so therfore not a "guy") ...

For heaven's sake stop your monotonous whinging and get a life, you over keen, embarrasment of the scooby scene!

And while you're at it, please remove your url from your profile as its against T&Cs. You know that!

OK.. So you want the full specs of the servers, and the exact causes of the outages, to a detailed technical level.

As this would bore the majority of the scoobynet community (including me) I will simply say one more time

Hope this helps

Of course you won't ... but I'd wager that it is because you are too stupid to understand and certainly to put into words what has actually gone on

Whatever happened to "We are still working hard on the move, but will report back soon with a full update and explanation" then?

If you don't wish to bore the community, then email me the details, I'll then glady share them in the Computer Related section of the forum for anyone who is interested.

Ahoy shipmate! What's this? No explanation? Well there's a surprise. Told you I had you pegged!

I have made no attempt to mask my IP details by the way so you will be able to ascertain my credentials for yourself without me having to 'say hi'... assuming no 'comms hardware failures' get in the way that is!
