In have to say, it is a bit rude of the mods no telling us exactly what happened. Don't we have a right to know?

Here's a special post for two of our special members. It has subtitles for the "hard of thought". Think of this post like one of them David Attenborough programs where we get to take a look into the misunderstood lives of chimps.

Well today.. its the other way round. Rather than us humans looking at YOUR lives, I'm going to do one for you to look at us!

1) To most humans, "a full explanation" means an explanation which includes all the information which affects them. This will include things like what the broad problem was, why it was a big problem, and what has been done to ensure it doesn't happen again.

2) Human beings have developed (well, the normal ones have) the ability to reason and communicate. This enables them to understand things which they didn't previously understand.

Strangely there are a number of REALLY dim, less developed sub-species which have yet to develop this ability. Instead they still exhibit the embarrassing traits showing they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. Yet instead of asking sensible questions, they simply make blanket statements as if they are cast iron fact, absolutely SURE in the knowledge that they know better, while the human beings look on in amazement and wonder at how this clever little creature is able to learn complex tasks like making tea and wiping its own *rse!

Captain Jack (are you a real Captain by the way? Or is it just a name you made up for when you post on the internet?) and Markus (bless you).

Please leave us to do our jobs. You may be frustrated on the sidelines with no ability to affect whats going on. But, gentlemen, you have absolutely no idea what we're doing, so please, either enjoy the forum (now its up and running) and play nicely, or be reasoned enough to appreciate that you look stupid by hanging around.. so just clear off.

--

For everyone else. We're about 25% done now, but things should move faster today, so we might be all settled down by tonight.

It would seem there is! If they are too busy to actually give a reason, hey, why not just say so, and promise it later (oh, they did, but I doubt that will be forthcoming) rather than insulting those seeking an answer.

Now I think that is unfair to Markus. He is wondering what we are all wondering. We don't though have a right to an explanation, but the banner did promise one. I have read his posts on this thread and none seem to deserve the drivel above, and he was even helpfull to a couple of people.

Not the attitude one expects from an admin.

But we are gratefull for all the work done anyway.

My thoughts exactly.
We are not demanding an explanation,if you dont want to explain then fine, even if the banner did say one would be forthcoming. I think the majority of people on here, couldnt give a toss what went on, just as long as it is back up and running.
But there are quite a few on here, who do work in related area's such as IT, Telco's and Hosting and are interested as to what happened.
And a lot of these people, Markus included, were helpful during the server switch and all the mess that ensued.
Just because he may come across to you as a PITA, I think you are misreading his intentions and posts...
but hey I am sure he will carry on living and posting even if you dont give an explanation...c'est la vie

Good to see I'm not the only one who might have a little bit of interest in the technical side of what is going on, thanks for the support chaps

If I was wishing to be very childish I could have started a poll asking whether shaun should explain what has been going on, or I could have spammed the forums with posts asking for the information. I'm not exactly demanding it, I've not said "post it up or I'm off", I simply wish to know.

I'm pretty sure none of us will be actually told what went on, as has been the norm in the past (I exepect another from shaun at this point ),

shaun does his best technical explanation of t'fault

We have had coms issue which made the site unusable to the public.... once the BBS was opened the servers ground to a halt, being caused by multiple connections being made without the server being able to service many of them causing the CPU usage to max out and finally kill the server. With just Simon and myself on the BBS we could still navigate around it, hence the post by me.

It was a lonely place.

ROFL

You're like a load of old women! For those in the UK, the weather is stunning outside. Go and buy a nice young lady a drink, and talk about life, rather than worrying to death about the technical details of a website!

Anyway.. The other thread has been updated.

Has anyone else noticed that when you open the Buddy List it now reverts your main browser page to the forum list

lol, Do you guy's phone the electricity company after a power cut and demand a full technical explanation..?

Just a thought, as I really can't understand why some people complain so much about something that is really irrelevant (well to 99.9999% of us anyhow).

It's not like you pay subs or have lost out in some major way. Unless of course you are a 'Billy no mates'..?

lol conspiracy theorist, you gotta love em..!

Have you ever thought that maybe the technical bods would like to know about every aspect which isn't functioning correctly, no matter how minor. It may not be high on the priority list, but they just might be grateful of being made aware of it. I actually do use the Buddy List quite a lot, and its use is often relevant to the current page I am on, so when it now automatically redirects to the Forum List it is slightly frustrating. I have implemented my own work-around just in case they never fix it, but I only mentioned it to be helpful.

I had no mad desire to know myself, might have been interesting to know.

I just found the attack on Markus childish and uncalled for.

Another problem I've just noticed. When you click "View first unread" it no longer takes you where it should, but back to the forum list.

also once you have finished doing a reply, it normally jumped to your post, but now you have to scroll down to see if the post/reply was correct.
