I had the same thing happen with mine last month. Took it to a secret location(subaru mechanic) and he fixed it in minutes. The only reason i didn't try and do it is because, taking the door card off(if you dont know what yr doing) can cause more harm than good). It was a simple operation, in that a few bolts had come loose. Cost £20 to sort one out and check the other and its now as good as new. Its apparently a common thing on classics. If i was brave enough i would have done it myself, but saying that, some of the tools reqd aren't in yr standard toolkit(not in mine anyway). Fix it now, and you'll have no bother for years. Just my opinion obviously

Cheers steffiraf!!
Special tools????? Now you have me wondering!! Mind you, my tool kit has been built up over 50 years so I should have something to fix it with??
Tomorrow I shall have a look and see what needs doing - sounds pretty simple

FIXED IT - just now!
Took 15 minutes ......... easy as anything!
Door Card off, carefully remove plastic sheet, 2 bolts found at bottom of plastic sheet, locate holes that they have fallen from, screw back in, check other 2 bolts in same mechanism (loose!), tighten them up, re-connect electric window switches and test ............ re-assemble!
Excellent! Thanks for the helpful posts ..... thats that sorted for another 6 years!
Can't remember the window actually sounding as smooth as it does now!
To think what has gone wrong with the Scooby in the 6 1/2 years I have owned it - it's quite a remarkable thumbs-up for Subaru - 2 bolts dropped out, alarm affected by strong signals and a rubbing camshaft belt ...............
Superb pieces of kit if looked after and not fooked about with and, of course, driven properly!!

Still dont qualify for more than oily rag status.
Any engineer of worth, would have investigated what the root cause was before putting the bolts back. and then would have made sure when the bolts were replaced they were either torqued back, or loctited (where applicable). all youve done is a simple fix, which may not last, as you dont know wh y they came out in the first place!!!
and i bet you never even bothered to look at any of the other doors did you ????
makes me laugh that you had to ask the questions on the problem and how to fix it BEFORE you even attempted the job. Real engineers, just get on with it, and then look for assistance once the problem has been evaluated, and the extent of the concern found.
Stick to theory, its about all your good at

I have never been sacked from any of my engineering roles.. and just to make sure you know, i,m going back as a consultant, to complete the project, as they cant get anyone with the right credentials to take over!!!
They have given me an open door, so should i ever decide to change end products i i can go back if i wish..
unlike you you blinkered codger,

God, I'm surrounded by half-wits!!!
Doesn't EVERYONE think it odd that mart is ALWAYS doing 1 of 3 things?
1. Looking for a job
or
2. Being asked to leave a job
or
3. Stating on here that he has lots of jobs to go to, he is just waiting for the right 'package'
5-1 to ME I believe?

i have never been asked to leave a job for your info !!!
unlike your blinkered approach, real engineers look outside the comfort zone,
you dont get anywhere if you dont push the boundarys!
if i recall your the one who always blows his own trumpet about what engineers of worth earn!!! btw ive seen evidence of how your renumeration system works, people being paid stupid summs of money regardless of what they can actually do..... loads of people in the comfort bubble unwilling to move because in the real world you have to deliver!!
and yes i do 3 things at once, its called ability, thats why you get blinkered.
just think, now that your a gerriatric and out of it, things will start to pass you by, and where you thought you were the expert, the generation below you will consign you to the background. Real engineers evolve pete, the dinosaurs stay stuck trying to empire build

What a cheapskate
Hope you get stuck in a lot of traffic jams
BTW it makes no difference to the performance, those clever engineers at FHI thought of that. When you put your foot down it automatically switches off giving all the horses to the wheels. When you have finished your overtaking manouver or bit of spirited driving it cuts back in again! Therefore I'm transported to my destination in a nice cool environment and with plenty of 'performance' on tap. Bliss!
Doesn't exactly take a nuclear scientist to figure that bit of engineering out does it
