Is it worth me getting the scoobyworld Ninja Cat-back package to save money in the future? Theres two options - 1. B.Box and resonated centre piece or 2. B.Box and decat centre pipe - im thinking of getting the resonated centre piece as some of you said it will reduce drone, but will it also silence the exhaust slightly? Will the car also pass its MOT like this?

£330 seems like a good price for the above kit.

Thanks

Resonated, trust me on this one!!

It doesn't make the exhaust much quieter per se, it just cuts out much of the drone and lets you appreciate the burble more.

Hia mate, i thought you would have got all the bits you needed with the kit?

So i might have to buy the exhaust kit, then source another part that they dont mention that you need!! Great.

Hows the car coming along mate, all fixed yet?

give or take fella. the wishbone, droplink and steering end have all been replaced, but the anti roll bar is a little bent so will need that repairing too before m.o.t. day. just need to replace the wing now really, already have it like but ordered some clips off a subaru dealer today as the ones on now are snapping off. colour match isnt brilliant but better than a primered one lol.

ordered the gasket off graham goode today £32! inc postage. bloody scooby parts eh? never mind. should be here wednrsday and ill have the wing put on then too soooo... hopefully by wednesday night when i go too work il have a good looking scooby again. and a nice polish this weekend to say sorry for crashing her.

andy.

p.s. mr crank make sure you have all the parts you need inc any gaskets. if your replacing only the backbox and centre you should get the gasket for that, only a thin metal one and two bolts. but if your doing the downpipe too like me youll need to source a "cone" like gasket (not sure on the terminology) im sure gc8 knows it... very knowlagable.

anyway good luck kidda and i WILL get on some sound/video clips this evening.

OK, bit of an update.

Had a big barny with the ruler last night whose words were "why do you need a new exhaust, theres nothing wrong with the one thats on now"

So it looks like ill be sticking with the Magnex Backbox for a while ( only cause i dont want her poisoning my food! ) BUT i was thinking of getting the Ninja Resonated Centre piece as she cant see that bit.

Should this help with my desire for more burble? And should this also help with the responsiveness of the car due to me removing one of the cats?

Thanks

maybe yours and my mrs are related. i swaer they were her words too, so i made some bull**** up about it blowing from a hole somewhere. £400 later still believes me...

whos that coming down the stairs...

oh ****..

wheres the close button....

argh!!!

but then i pranged the car and snapped the wishbone, so costs so far have arisen to £1300+

oops.

Oh dear, just had a thought and need reassuring.

Im sticking with the Magnex Oval Backbox ive already got and ive just ordered the Ninja Resonated Centre section off Scoobyworld.

Will they fit correctly together? It says the centre pipe will fit Ninja / Afterburner and all standard fit exhaust equipment but the Magnex isnt a standard fit part.

Can somone reassure me that they will both fit correctly.

Thanks

If they are the same diameter, they should!

just got this response off scoobyworld -

"Hello,

The Magnex stuff usually uses a 2.5" bore like our systems so I would not anticipate any fitting problems. If it is fitted to a standard centre pipe at the moment then you definately won't have any issues."

Looks like it will fit ok after all

Got my new Ninja Resonated de-cat centre piece delivered to my place of work today, i didnt think a piece of metal could look so good - its like bling for under your car!!

Hopefully my mate can fit it tomorrow, then well see how the Ninja / Magnex combo works

Chocolate, who cares about the neighbours as long as your happy - if they dont like it tough.

Did anyone else worry that your sonic boom might have knocked that cyclist off their bike??

Got my Decat centre piece fitted at my mates garage this afternoon, also got my rear bumper secured ( 6 bolts were missing!! ) all for £25.

You can definately hear the burble more, it seems louder without being overly deafening or offensive. The Magnex backbox sounds good, so ill stick with this for a while - overall im happy. Will it get louder as the pipe cokes up? Dont want to wake up one day and its suddenly deafening!!

Also fitted my Green Panel filter this afternoon, what a barsteward!

The panel filter fitted ok once id sawn off the rubber bits around the filters edge, but the box just didnt want to fit back properly. I found it wasnt catching onto the 3 notches at the base of the box, had to practically dismantle the whole air box just to get it to fit properly. At least thats it out of the way for a good 6 months.

Dont know what to do now really, might just enjoy the car for a while - filled up with petrol again today, thats 3 times in 3 weeks - im getting used to it

Thanks for all the advice people have given me on this subject.

My first Impreza (MY95 WRX) had Afterburner decat downpipe and centre section (non-resonated), with a Ninja backbox and was bloody loud - just about tolerable on a long run.

My current MY00 Uk Turbo, had a Magnex backbox (oval as yours) and resonated centre, with a Ninja Sports cat downpipe.

It is a fair bit quieter, but still sounds great imo - but is much better on a longer run.

And no - it doesn't get louder!

thats exactly the system i have on mine... and yes it is bloody loud mate!

any idea on the power gains you recieved? i think maybe around 20-25bph on the full system as the turbo whistles now when spooling up earlier rather than sounding "feathery". i suppose this is down to the unrestricted flow of gases now though?

the after burner downpipe on mine straight from the turbo starts off at 3" and bores down to 2.5" to fit the afterburner centre. very loud and some confused looks from the corsa crew who recognised my car usually as this quiet unassuming scoob turbo with a "sensible" driver

how jealous are they now godamnit!!!

andy

p.s. may one day get the afterburner backbox too, but for now... shes loud enough

Never had it dynod.

On the bum dyno it was about the same as my current - 273bhp.

My old WRX had 256bhp as standard, but on jap fuel. So lets say 250bhp, feels about the same as current 273bhp Uk turbo - so therefore yes about 20-25ish bhp??

All complete guesstimates tho!!

Even though my WRX had a TD05, it still spooled up nice and early (2500rpm ish) due to zero cats.

My UK turbo with TD04 and Sports cat spools up at 2500ish rpm also.
