Bottom line for me is simple: Why does the Webmaster run the site?
- Is it for the community, or his pocket? (or a mix of both?)
Forums like this aren't that expensive to run. Google Ads, sponsor links & revenue from members more than takes care of the running costs.
Why add in another money spinning "feature"?
Sure it's nice to keep the cash flowing. But doing it in this manor -which IMHO is to the detriment to the existing members - can only drive people away. Which in the long term will cost you money.
Please act on the results of the "Zoints poll" if it's still there.

You really need something tragic to put your pathetic thoughts in to perspective.
Development needs to be explored on all websites as and when it becomes available, surely? If it turns out to be a mistake and the site is flooded with undesirables then I'm sure it can be reviewed.
Good luck to ScoobyNet and Zoints I say because it doesn't prevent me from functioning.
Anybody still crying over the Google adverts or is that forgotten now?

Hoppy, do you really think Scoobynet is full of mature professionals?
To all the moaners, try reading "Who moved my cheese", it may teach you a thing or two. And FFS just give it a chance - if it doesn't work out then it can be removed.

Removed? Possibly, but would that not indicate that Shaun/Simon were wrong in implementing it in the first place, if so, then I doubt it would be removed as they are never wrong are they

It's not about right or wrong, merely trial and error.
Keep your health and concentrate on moving on, that's far more important.

Not getting admitted to mod-dom made Markus all bitter, so watch out!
P.S. I think this Quoits idea is just great. I'm sure throwing hoops will catch on!

There's nothing brown nosing about it. If you honestly think Marcus's obvious personal vendetta against Simon/Shaun isn't the reason for his constant childlike whining then you surprise me.
Every chance he gets, he's in with a dig, he sounds like a right big girls from blouse from where I sit.
Oh, and I wouldn't possibly operate as a moderator as you well know.

Don't really know what Zoints is, don't have an interest in finding out and don't really appreciate the fact that this was enabled by default (I assume there is a risk of people hijacking Snet profiles on Zoint?). Mind you, can't complain as I don't pay money for Snet and I'm a member for the technical content
Thanks to Markus for telling us how to disable the functionality.

Joking aside, someone could, for example, create a Zoints profile of Markus, add themselves to the SN community group, then go off and post insults or other such things on other SN community members profiles on Zoints. People would possibly assume it was actually me doing this, when it's not.
Part of the issue is that the registration process asks for an email address, but it does send an activation/validation email to that address, as most forums do when you sign up. So if you knew my email address, you could use that to create the fake account and it would seem more likley that it was me as it was using the email address I'd use on SN.
OK, so you could do this anyway, without the tie up for SN, and you can do similar for any forum/service out there, so it's not a massive issue as it's possibly happening somewhere anyway.
I've had a couple of people mention this exact thing to me though over the past few days, so it is happening. I'd expect the trolls would probably take advantage of this chance to masquerade as other normal users, it'd be a laugh to them wouldn't it
I have emailed Zoints saying that sending an activation/validation email to the address supplied in registration may help things.

About as effective as the IP ban that Zoints think they have slapped on me
