The entire Muslim community MUST apologise, take responsibility for their actions and act accordingly.

Us non-Muslims have no influence or chance with these people. The only people who can affect change are the Muslims themselves.

They need to eradicate all extremism from the community - moderate Muslims must know where the extremist views are in their community and they must shut them down, stop them from operating and enforce the moderate viewpoint.

IMO you cant separate the extremists from the "moderates". Its simply a culture which is not compatible with western values, and nothing will change that. Are we going to ban satire, bikini's and bacon so they dont get offended?

I agree, and we've certainly got to give it a try. Otherwise things are going to get ugly

I've been watching the Q&A programmes 'Shariah TV' shown on C4 over the last few nights (series now finished). It has addressed serious issues and while some members of both the panel (Muslim scholars, clerics and leading professionals) and the audience have been both very vocal and scary, there has also been some very sensible debate. Especially from the professionals who clearly live in the real world outside the Mosque.

There is a moderate Muslim line that can work alongside contemporary British values without serious conflict. It has worked before. It's time the moderate majority stood up and let themsleves be known.

Turning a blind eye is not acceptable.

Richard.

I don't think I'm Moses' best mate at the moment, but I have a feeling he would be willing to stick up for a moderate Muslim line in the UK. He says he hates terrorism and uses the word peace in almost every post. He is sincere (as are some other pro-Muslim posters on here and I'm grateful for that ).

If we can put an end to radical Muslim terrorism in the UK, that will be a major result. It still fails to address the 'wipe Israel from the face of the earth' sentiment, and is also at odds with the Muslim vs Muslim slaughter in Iraq, but it would be a heck of a good start.

The foiled airline attacks yesterday may yet turn out to have a double up-side - a wake-up call to moderate British Muslims.

Richard.

I personally think it is a great shame that the Muslim religious leaders do not appear to be taking a strong active part in trying to persuade the fundamentalist persuaded younger people to cease their terrorist ideals.

It is of course Billy Boy who by standing by with and joining the American oil man idiot in an internationally illegal war on Iraq who has put this country high on the attack list by the Arab terrorist organisations.

If only it was, might be easier. 7/7 and these latest ones are the same Muslims you see at work, the local mobile phone shop, at university etc. So-called moderates but unfortunately there apparently appears to be no way of telling which is which.

I seriously don't believe that 20+ Muslims youths can orchestrate something like this, buying houses for cash etc without their families, workmates or community leaders knowing something was amiss. There must have been subtle changes in behaviour.
