I think you could achieve something similar for a lot less money. One of the top end stage Axis blocks, some cams, a GT spec roller bearing turbo etc and you'd be around that power level.

Awesome car, would love to see one compete in the time attack series!. Also is there any chance of a head to head battle with its arch rival the Evo MR FQ 400?. Real good selling point would be the Subaru showing its supremacy in the clash of the titans especially being some seven grand cheaper. Top Gear maybe even testing the t25 on the test track with the stig, couldn't think of a better advertisment!.

I have heard what times this car is capable and what it is competing against - not giving the game away but an M3 or RS4 would not even see which way it went. Think of it not as an M3 alternative at £10k cheaper, more of a less than half price GT3 RS ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Remember this is not just a power upgrade it is a car upgrade.
Also there is a customer group out there who will buy a newish STi or Spec C and then send it to one of the better known quality Subaru tuners and spend upwards of £10k on motor and then £5k on drivetrain for similar power figures.
I am not saying it cannot be done cheaper - but there is clearly a target customer group who will pay for the best quality.
In terms of ECU - not sure which option Iain is using but there are some very sexy options becoming available from the Ecutek stable.
Hoping to get switchable map on mine so I can have shopping map and Vpower map![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

You'll need a bit more than that

Re the Evo IX ask John Banks about reaching 400bhp I don't think it took much more than a exhaust and re-map. I think there was a bigger turbo fitted as well but there are guys on the MLR that hit that figure with standard internals.
WRC Tech offer a power conversion for the FQ 300 to take it to 400bhp for £2695.00. Makes the t25 look a tad expensive.

To save the people that can't be bothered to search the internet and get a calculator out ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
OTR price of a JDM STi - £27k
Price of a Cosworth Tall motor with turbo and other ancillaries fitted & mapped(engine capable of over 600+bhp turbo dependant) - £13500
Handling Pack - £1650
Do the sums.![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

Shaun.

Maybe but the Evo FQ400 is £47,000 for a reason more than just profiteering. OK it includes big brakes so take off £2000 to create a like for like comparison.
The T25 is a bargain by comparison

those with less pennies to spend on such a glorious machine.
Clearly this is intended as a complimentary (sp?) model line up to Ians existing and in no way intended to undermine his excellent development work.
A kneejerk reaction to all the comments here about NEW highly tuned models being unaffordable. - Used, warranteed performance models with custom insurance package makes sense?
We would all have a T25 if we could afford it, for those that cant, have a look at the 'Budget T25' thread

MR FQ-400 was so expensive because it was a limited edition to celebrate .... something.
Plus a 3 year warranty which probably bumped it $10k![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Word on the street is that the new Evo IX FQ-360 (yes 360) which was release in September is a faster car than the 400 due to a smaller turbo, better mapping and the fact that the IX now hase MIVEC - the Mitsi version of variable valve timing
Again it's not cheap (about £36k I think) but has the 3 year warranty and plenty of bang for the buck.
As for the Type25 - been in it with a loonie behind the wheel (hi Ian

To be honest, i didn't want to drive it. I was looking to get the Type20 and I knew the T25 was a very different animal.
Plus the T20 was a big power hike for me and I would not have driven the T25to 1/4 of it's potential so would have been a waste.
Passenger ride was the best option and greatly appreciated
Maybe in a year or so when the T20 gets long in the tooth
