make sure you do all the usual checks with buying a car but be even more careful than usual!! they're expensive when they go wrong!!! good luck. you won't regreat it if you buy a good one.

done many rebuilds on cossies and rs turbos. yup all the same things to look for. the engine just looks a hell of a lot different. bonus that you've got someone to look at it with you. when me and a mate look at a car, one normally plays dumb to keep the seller busy so the other can get a proper look at the car. not let us down yet.

! I sold it 3 yrs ago. I had it a week and had to pay £500 for a new bottom end!!! ouch 
!! Kept it for a few months, then the gearbox went and replaced it with an XR3i one, then turbo started to go, so got rid! Sold it to a typical Boy Racer who looked 16!! Later found out he took it to the same mechanic as me, saying the oil light kept flashing!! Er...maybe because it needs oil!!!!!!!! *Tut* Some lads just don't know!!!

Er...maybe because it needs oil!!!!!!!! *Tut* Some lads just don't know!!! my mate's one was a bit like yours. head gasket went so we rebuilt the lump, 3 weeks later he got major det on piston 4 and it melted to the chamber
got it all back together after having a few more bits played with and he turned round and sold it.
all that said though, i'd love another one to have along side the scooby.
