help needed WHICH OIL!!!!!
#121
Well... tbh I dont know what to make of this thread since a few people seems to be biased from what they use so I wonder how viable the info here in is...
Bottom line.... I am looking for some knowledge in regards to what oil to use based on that I have a 94 wagon that will never see a track day whilst in my ownership and I am looking to have oil changes on it every 6 months regardless.
I see some people recommending the same brand but I wonder that if I am going to change my oil every six months will it warrant some more expensive oils

god i deceided to have look at what oil to use in my subaru and ended up laughing like a nut case, who is this **** pete. god what a moron that obviously has no intent on using anything other than the type of oil that subaru use. sorry pete (or petite **** should it be known) i have taken advice from some subaru experts and gone with a more expensive oil.
pete if you are reading what petrol do you use? the subaru recommended petrol? also pete if you drive like you forum fight then you shuld really not bother coming in here where genuine people offer advice.
stay well away you silly little woman.

Oil. I buy the best i can afford to be honest.
15 makro crap compared to 35 quid millers/silkolene.
I mean 20 quid difference why risk it.
Only thing iv been dubious about is 10w -40 or 10w -60.
I use 10 - 60 its a thick oil but i drive her daily and shes`s always on boost at some point.
And andy at the clinic said thats what they use in there cars.

Why do u think 60 is to thick if the clinic use it who are subaru specialist?
Cheers

You are spot on!!
Someone HAS given one reason to use 10W-40 Semi!!!!!!!
That someone is SUBARU!!
You know?? The team that gave you your IMPREZA, the team that ploughs $Millions into research!!
Now, you can listen to an Oil salesman who has a vested interest in selling the biggest marked-up Oil .............. or, you can listen to those who know, who do and who are right!?
I take my lead from SUBARU ... you waste your money on over-rated tripe if you wish!!
Pete

Dont listen to pslewis m8. If subaru said put iron filings in the engine he would
You have bought a performance car, 40 quid for decent oil is ok.
Which scoob u got, i think that the newer ones use a differnt oil to the classics.
Cheers

Some on here recommend what they sell and make money on - your main Dealer is one.
Do as you wish, I will stick to what Subaru Recommend - thanks all the same

Nothing to explain - look in your cars handbook ...... if it says use 10W-40 Semi then to buy anything else is IMO a watse of money.
