Al how did you get that power from your car? I got an 02 WRX with almost the same mods...

UK Subaru Bugeye WRX 2001 UK WRX 02
VF34 turbo VF35
Walbr 255l fuel pump snap
650cc injectors STi pinks
GEMS ecu fitted and mapped my Steve Simpson ECUTeK3
anti lag/launch control (also fitted by Steve Simpson)
3" de-cat exhaust system with HKS backbox 3" de-cat
HKS green filter induction kit
Fuel pressure regulator

I'm pushing 312bhp... do the 650cc injectors really make that much difference?
Anti lag is just for elliminating lag (dur), but does that affect bhp output?

Sorry for the off topic questions mate, but was just curious (and want more power myself).

Cheers
Alex

No problem, the anti-lag doesn't affect bhp output in any way....

Why you're not pushing that much I don't know, if it's the same setup....all I can say is steve simpson is the guru and i've got the printouts to prove it....

Maybe the ecu/mapper isn't all that....
I know my VF34 can only flow 360bhp and thats why it's been "turned down" on mine......
What boost are you running.....

I dont doubt for a second that your figures are accurate - I'm not sure what boost I'm running as I dont have a gauge (I know - lame), but when it was mapped the guy said it was at optimum boost to run efficiently.

All my mapping gets done at Power Engineering (as thats where I bought the original licence).

Do you really think your guy could squeeze more power out of my set up? If so what does he charge??

Hmm that sounds strange?
Optimum boost to run efficiently?? He didn't tell you the boost output? even if you don't have a gauge you should have been told.....

Mine's running 1.4bar tailing off to 1.2 at around 5800rpm....

He probably could as he's a real guru however he only really specialises in GEMS and from what i've been told (and seen) they're pretty much tops....

When you say you bought your licence, what do you mean??

He charges £200 a map.....done on rr....

i think what alex ment was the ECUTEK licence is owned by PE, there for its locked to other mappers. Tripple which RR did you get that figure from? i have been on alex's car and it def. feels quicker than 320bhp.

alex, it could be the mapper is not trying

I dunno, Iain down at Power Engineering did put alot of effort into mapping my car... he may well of told me the boost but I cant remember for sure

I could do with another re map... I'm gonna wait til I change my exhaust system theo, then I'll def be up for one!

Would like to have Steve Simpson do it... £200 for a RR remap is really good! BUT would he be able to tinker with my ECUTeK????

If he can then could you give me his number?

Mine was done at TEG motorsport........a fair old trek but well well worth it......

Just to give you an idea....I got it rr'd at one place (who shall remain nameless as i'm still too livid about it) who dyno's mine at 242bhp ATF......then I got it rr BEFORE it was mapped, by Steve Simpson and it made 319 without even touching the map!
Now, how does that one work out!
answer.....plenty of dodgy rr's out there....

Best thing to do is search TEG on here and get the number as i'm not sure if he does Ecutek....

Power engineering?
are they in Witham?

Alex there are plenty more people that could look at your ecutek map that are a lot closer. As Tripple says, Steve Simpson specialises in GEMS (i believe he is a co-creator of the ECU) so probably isnt worth the 500 mile round trip. You could get ZEN or Bob Rawle to sort it out and they are considerably closer to us.

Cheers guys... Bob Rawle does seem to be the man... lots of highly spoken words his way!

And Allan that stuff about the figures you were given on the RR 242 and then before any mapping with Steve at 319... bit alarming to think that there are such cak RR's out there

ps: The car looks sweet and tasty matey!!!

Cheers but who's Alan??

It's not rubbish RR....is the people that turn them down trying to get money out of you....
"Oh well if we did this, that and the rest, for £2000 we can get the power you want....."
Then they just turn the RR back up and hey presto, you've been kippered....
