As for 6000rpm i doubt any of them actually realised they can rev that high, that would be wreckless behaviour on the queens highway tut tut. On a serious note i have a 94WRX with a Z4 ECU only putting out .7bar boost. At the fly should i be expecting around 260BHP/210 or so at the wheels ? Waiting for my MOT before i Decat etc etc and dyno.

Good figures but I doubt that your car has an STi ecu (they are not compatable), probably more of a piggyback ecu to up the boost.
Power will be around 280-290bhp? so pretty good going

my ecu is def an sti one, i posted the number on it recently and was told it was a version 2https://www.scoobynet.com/ecu-do-have-t526452.html
and it had the same ecu as a proper sti in the place i was having mine dyno'd, but like you i thought it was not possible, so i can only assume that the preivious Japenese owner spent some time and money on it before it was imported to me.
thats the whole reason i got the car dyno'd, so many things don't add up in the car, the log book says wrx, there's no plate to show its an sti, and my advice from TDI was that it was unlikely this was an original engine, perhaps its just newer.

A 6K ECU is out of a GC8 V2 STI: as you thought.

Not a bad result that...love all the banter you get on this site,very amusing...i had my car on the rollers a few weeks ago,Z4 ecu remapped by Mines(has a mines plaque on it & i opened it up & has a new chip in the centre with 300+ on it??) only ran it @ 0.8 bar as the operator seemed to think it pinked @ 0.9/1 bar although i have never heard it on the road & i run 1.1 bar!!
Anyway @ 0.8 bar i made 191 @ wheels with about 190lbft & i managed a 14.7 1/4 @ pod on the same boost.

Make of it what you will.....incedently what did a U8 ecu come from as i picked one up to 'chip'??
