And The Winner is SONY!

I wasn't aware that linux had been confirmed but it seems it has so fair enough.
It remains to be seen what this will bring to the ps3 though as the primary reason is for homebrew programming. Sony do not have a great track record of allowing users to have free reign with their products whereas microsoft are actively encouraging people to write software for the 360. The development kits are in beta and will be released later this year, the software can then be distributed via live. It is purely speculation on my part that sony won't allow freedom to program in the same way but going on past history it is highly unlikely.
A media center extender interfaces with a media center pc or vista and allows you to stream music, video and photos to a tv. It also allows you to record tv and watch it back.
As of yet there is no confirmation of pvr functionality from sony and seeing as there is no tuner I don't see how it can record tv. Possibly a future add on though. Admittedly you could have a third party app written and then try and get it to work on a pc but there are too many variables for it to be main stream and expect an average buyer to be able to do this. Media center extenders work as they are designed to interface at an os level. I can't see microsoft allowing sony to interface with their media center capabilities.
As far as gaming goes just about all the biggest titles are from non jap games houses. I only own 2 jap titles actually. Dead or alive and ridge racer.
Compare this to the colin mcrae series, richard burns rally, rallisport challenge 1 and 2, forza motorsport, the call of duty series, brothers in arms, doom, unreal tornament, the splinter cell series, the tombraider series, the gta series, far cry, prey, F1 games, the fifa series, all the EA american sports games, the halo series, half life and counter strike, mafia, hitman, matt hoffman series, tony hawk series, need for speed series, moto gp series, oblivion........and on and on.
Granted I haven't played all of the above games on the xbox as some aren't my thing but it gives you an idea of the variety of games I play.
So above is a list of the best and biggest selling titles on ANY platform and all were available on the xbox. None of them as far as I am aware are from japense games houses.
Most of these games were available on the ps2 aswell but not all and shows that there aren't that many jap games that do well over here.
The japs do make some very good games and I thoroughly enjoyed playing the gt series. Eventually it got stale and too arcade like though. They tried to cover all aspects of motorsport and failed. Rallying in gt was dire. Forza is a much more polished and realistic game and there are much better rally games out there aswell.
To say all the best software is jap and going with sony is so clearly not the case!
If in a years time the ps3 shows itself to be a more capable media center, has proved to be a better games console with better games and has an online system better than live and market place that will allow me to play against pc gamers aswell then I will probably switch to a ps3.
At the moment though it doesn't look good from sony's point of view though.
Crap. That was longer than I thought!

Ewwwww EA games are ****. Good arcade fun but at the end of the day pretty ****e and simple. The thing about 360 is that it doesnt have any decent car simulators. Forza is the closest thing and in that game you could drift FWD cars as easy as RWD ones

You can drift with lift off oversteer but if you floor it on a bend they just go straight on.....as they should.
I agree most ea games are a bit crap but from that list which are ea apart from the obvious sports and nfs?

Fifa soccer?
What about Madden, what about NHL, what about Battlefield, the sims, burnout, fight night, Tiger Woods? What about forthcoming killer titles like Crysis and Spore?
I hate this mentality many people have to just bash whoever is the biggest.

Can't speak for audi but when I say EA i usually mean the ea sports arm of ea. The part that churns out the same games year after year with little that is new apart from the name. You can pick any sports game from the last few years and there is very little difference in gameplay. Admittedly some of them are good games but it gets tired when nothing changes. There is already an overload of sports games for the 360 and its not been out that long!!
EA as a publishing house is a different matter though as they are just publishing what some of the best software houses out there can produce so i agree about crytek and the likes.
You are right about F1 for the 360 but it was available on the xbox.
