I'd be interested in real proof, so for example your Mother "connecting" with someone, giving some vital information and then validating it.
I'm friends with a magician who goes around doing Ouija boards and other 'tricks' to disprove these things.
For the 10% thing, read here: http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/10percnt.htm

After all, you're dealing with the "unkown".

I think there was a 70's or 80's film based around a young boy who stumbled across his parents' ouija board and began meddling with it..? It's all very hazy but I remember watching it as a youngster myself and as a film the concept was scary enough.
I then asked my mother about ouija boards and she said she'd tried it once. Those taking part in the session were contacted by someone who'd committed suicide in a block of flats not too far away. The spirit lost its temper and tossed the glass/pointer in the air which smashed when it came back down and hit the board. That was the end of that. Perhaps rightly so and thankfully no follow-up visits!
Crikey, I feel spooked just typing this!

Mr Reaper...
You mean.... he's a fake?
No.. surely not... I mean.. look at that cheeky grin.. the whitened teeth, Bling Rolex and sharp expensive saville suit..
You're also saying you haven't been one of the guests on Most Haunted.. and they're all play acting?
Is nothing sacred?
