A friend of mine has the Aussie flag at half mast (she lived in Oz for a while and thought Steve was great)
Damn, n blast, its Amazinggrace, posting as N3DOO (why does he never log off!)

Hello
As everyone else on this thread, I'm shocked. My 6 year old daughter was heartbroken when she saw the headlines as we were walking around London. Actually cried, poor little thing.
He seemed like a really nice chap and cared for the environment and was enthusiastic about what he did. A real shame.

The guy took risks, calculated, but neverthless risks, and lets be honest how many of watched him, hoping some croc or snake would stick him???
whilst at time he was ott, he was very good at what he did, would you lie down with some of the deadliest snakes in the world??
wonder how long before the video of the event hits the net? thats assuming they were filming at the time

What has supprised me is, how many people have been saddened by the news. I personnaly thaught that alot of people didnt think that much of him. Just shows that what he was trying to acheive is working.
So thank you Steve for showing the world how reptiles behave and for showing us the beauty in the beast.
Again, a sad loss and his memory will live on in his zoo, family and friends.

WTF I'm 99% sure I've my missus was rubbing one of these stingray things in the touchy feely pool at Sealife centre aquarium. These are the things crossed between a big pair of wings and a ghost right? How can they be so dangerous as to kill Steve "the real life Crocodile Dundee" Irwin?
By the way this guy spent millions of his own money buying huge area of australia just to prevent development and protect the local flora and fauna - top guy IMHO RIP
Probably he called them Rex's not scoobys but still a guy after most of our own hearts - loved the buzz of life on the edge and bollox to the PC brigade. He did what he knew what was right not what everyone thought he should do to look good in the papers.

She was, albeit a lot smaller and tamer.... the ones off Aus grow to about 4 metres
The spike can be up to 38 cms long and the stingray can stab you with it (not unlike a kitchen knife).... see pics earlier in thread of spike....
