Well done that man, I hope you can sleep at night.
A lesson learnt in crime and punishment for a minor offence at a young age could make all the difference in later life..

You wouldn't be so forgiving if the petty theft as a lad progressed into TWOC and subsequently causing death by reckless driving, especially if it affected you or yours ....

Correct, but we musn't all assume that if this young lad got away with stealing the valve caps he would automatically progress onto car theft, dealing drugs, rape, burglary or murder.

Anyway, i've said my peace - IMHO the punishment was a bit harsh for the value of what he'd nicked.

It was theft plain and simple. The value of what was stolen is immaterial.
Aye, ok then, let's go all middle east on him and chop his hands off.

I assume you were a perfect child and never once got up to anything a wee bit dodgy?

Just because I hold a different opinion from you doesn't make me right and you wrong AND vice versa.

The same argument could be used for justifying doing 90mph on an empty motorway, but we all know what the law thinks of that Where to draw the line? Nanny state or 'eye for an eye'?

Anyway, this has got a bit deep for a post about valve caps!

Whoosh....

Perhaps a better outcome would have been to make him empty his pockets, and upon finding the valve caps, smack the little f$$ker in the mouth. I dont think he would do it again.

Where did I advocate that?

If I did I would expect to be punished for it.

No, you are wrong.

He was also wrong and has lost his paper round for it and hopefully learnt a valuable lesson.
Let him go unpunished and see what he moves onto next.
I regularly get verbally & physically assaulted by kids at work. I'm sure they started with something small as well. I would quite happily pay the airfare to send those little b@stards to the middle east though.

Sorry, I just have to ask something as I think I missed the point of this thread. Are STi valve caps special? I checked mine and they're just normal black caps.

AM I MISSING OUT???

You only require the special STI caps if you also use the special STI air fill (Subaru Part no. SACC2637) as well.
