I watched the Path to 9/11 on sunday and monday nights, and although some of it is obviously 'fictionalised', for want of a better word, the Yanks really did mess it up didn't they?
The governments in fighting, and the reluctance of any high ranking figures to take responsibility for any actions lest it harm their careers led to the death of 2973 people.
The coroners reports on 9/11 should have read 'death by incompetence'.
Geezer

I was in Brussells with our Salesman at the time, IIRC Blair had arrived for some big European meeting with a load of other leaders that day... We were worried it could have been a target but luckily nothing happened (or unluckily some might say regarding Blair ) Our flight was obviously cancelled that day too.
Like someone said though, typical of the Yanks to remember the fall off the buildings and ignore the other 2 planes that went down that day. Probably wasnt on a big enough scale to be remembered know the drama queens across the pond

1, Blair was due to address the TUC conference, nothing to do with Europe.
2. Both the Shanksville crash site and the Pentagon scene were commerated. In fact I believe Bush visted Shanksville and Cheney the Penatgon, to lay wreaths.
While I'm no supporter of any of those named, at least try and get some facts right before flaming away.

For the loss of innocent lives, it is tragic.
However I think the US had it coming and has done for quite some time. The country seems to act like the rich spoilt brat who stamps their feet when they don't get what they want, an attention seeker of the worst sort, and by golly do we all know about it when something bad happens to them.
The terrorists have already won, tighter security measures and a hightened sense of paranoia. If a plane crashes the first question is usually "was it terrorists?".

Which was the Americans were paying tribute to the victims of the twin towers, after a minute of talking the pentagon was mentioned albeit that was about it
No mention of Flight 93, in fact I still havent heard one mention of the people who died on Flight 93 when talking about the minutes silence held for the victims
Yet that is the one that 2 films were made about
Go figure
