ow classic thread. where do i start

absurd
anthropophagous the beast
cannibal holocaust
cannibal ferox
men behind the sun(not exactly a horror film nasty all the same)
evil dead 2
bad taste
city of the living dead
the beyond
zombie creeping flesh
zombie holocaust(aka Dr butcher md)
maniac(VERY sleazy)
day of the dead

if you want fooked up watch guinea pig 1 and 2. there's a lot of hype about an underground film called august underground modum, not as gory as i expected its a little fooked up, and some the subjects are very taboo but that's it. either cannibal holocaust or ferox are probably the goriest I've seen and worth watching uncut if you can get hold of them.

Salems Lot (the vampires are pretty much unsurpassed)
The Church & Tenebre (sp?) or pretty much any Argento film)
The Fog (classic, chilling film)
The Thing (unbeatable)
Silent Hill (not a half bad film)
Switchblade Romance (very good film)
The Birds (still feel uneasy around huge sea gulls eyeing up food while at the seaside)
Friday the 13th (the original only, enjoyed the rest of the series but not in the same league)
The Burning (more of Tom's s.effects and worked very well for me, the killer music is also haunting)
Damn of the Dead (again another classic)
Texas Chain... 1 (liked the remake as well but treated it as a different film which worked for me)
Chris Lee / Peter Cushing films - altho some of the Hammer 'classics' were total dross
Halloween (broke the mold, total classic)
The Amityville Horror (frightening)
Omen (out and out chilling)
28 Days (modern classic, refreshing take on zombies)
House of the Dead (bloody terrible at times but tongue firmly planted in cheek, spinning shooting anyway??)
Doom (don't laugh but i actually enjoyed it, not a classic by any means but certainly popcorn horror)
Hostel (very entertaining)
Sleepy Hollow (not horror as such but i do like Burton's style)

Still waiting to watch:
Hills Have Eyes remake

August underground Modum sounds far to hardcore sick bring on the snuff films for me. Eating maggots from a dead headless foetus, sodomising a dead pre-teen girl in a bath, watching a man cut off his own ***** then have fellatio performed on it then use it to rape his bound / totured girlfriend and having sex with the gaping cut on a dead victim (and these are classed as highlights!).

Watched "The beast in the cellar" when I was 9..................fecked me up good style for months............they're always better when you're young...!

Si - off to bed but don't know why as I won't sleep.

Amityville, it's the house on the hill - really bad song as well as a really bad film.

Saying that though, there's a house a couple of miles away from where I live that reminds me of the Amityville house, especially in the winter when the lights are on.

House, anyone remember that, the big fat floating old lady monster.
Agree on both counts. Cant believe someone else has seen House absolutely cr@p but yet still used to make me have goose bumps.... that mirror and the water, the fat old lady, the freaky fish on the wall

In this order:

1) Dawn of the Dead
2) Friday The 13th (I,II & III)
3) The Fog (the original)
4) The omen
5) The Shining

I cant see how some of the responses constitute classic horror films....

Sleepy Hollow

Hammer House always used to be good
Did they used to do tales of the unexpected? Was allowed to watch them if my Dad was away.
Or was there a Hammer House of Horror series?
Either way, brown pants

House l, ll and lll ! good entertainment imo

Salems lot, but the tv series (David Soul?) book MUCH better

Shaun Hutson/Dean Koontz - no films made? books scared the brown stuff out of me

As said previously, films seen ilicitly (sp?) are much more scary

Saw (l&ll) thought they were good modern "horror"

Phantasm - can't remember why
The Devil rides out
Dracula - the book (that spawned a hundred films)
Silver Bullet - Conspiracy horror
Candy Man - mirrors in every house!!!!

Bit torrent here I come
