When I had my scoobs I was single and had no real cares or worries. I went to bed with my keys and if someone wanted the car, they'd have to get the keys off me first (and I had a numer of "toys close to hand"). Granted, if they're high on drugs (or adrenalin) then I may have not stood a chance but not doing anything would have bugged me more than getting hurt at that stage.

Now I'm a father and I have a 2yr old in the house, I leave the keys downstairs . Granted, I don't have a scoob anymore, but the wife has an S3 so there's still a slight worry there, but if they want the cars, they can have them if it means my family aren't terrorised.

Anyway, I have a wonderful device which stops any would be car thieves getting up my stairs anyway - it's called a stair gate . Honestly, takes me bloody ages to get it open myself sometimes!!!

Post In my opinion

I’m of mixed opinion on this, on one hand I catch someone in my home then I will do anything to make sure they are not able to return, to mine or anyone elses home. I will fully except the legal consequences.

I think that what I have worked for is worth fighting for, too many people lay down. I bet that the number of buglers that occur would be halved if more people attacked the intruders, hell if we all did then half the intruders would think twice before entering homes - That would still leave the minority, violent psychos but they exist anyway. if the unfortunate happens then I guess It was my time to go. I dunno im ranting but where im from you gotta stand up for yourself.

feel free to criticise, I’m interested in what you all think?

Or it would man that the intruders would enter a house epxecting it so would be more tooled up, or indeed in greater numbers.

I don't know the statistics, but I would guess that the vast majority or cartheives/burglars DONT want any sort of confrontation with the car or house owner.

Agreed.

If all police were armed, more criminals would arm themselves.

The problem is though, is how many times have we read in the paper or heard on the news that someone was stabbed for his car, whether burgled or carjacked? These type of criminals have no sense of guilt, and would happily stab you with a knife/screwdriver without giving you chance to hand them over first. All so they can get your car and sell if for £500.

Not worth it is it? just let them have it and let them leave. Phone the police and hope they kill themselves in it.

Fair enough if you do wake up, and you are ready for a burglar coming up the stairs, but do you really think you could wipe out 4 tooled up lads all by yourself? Now take away the ice Axe and replace with a shotgun, and your onto a winner, IF you wake up first.
thats the point its easier to get than the other toys if you know what i mean

Okay if you are talking about one or two involved, what about when it's a gang of eleven or twelve professional car thieves? would you lay down then?

And as for 'where you are from people stick up for themselves' - I am originally from Toxteth, Liverpool where residents are usually pretty streetwise

Default i recon

Well i agree there are situations where you have no chance, u wake up with a knife at ur throat etc, but 12 - they wouldnt have the room to move up the stairs so one at a time, tooled up of course.

I dunno I just know if the opportunity to do something was there I would take it, im too stubon and would be to disappointed in myself to give up where there may be a chance of defending my home

I think you are misunderstanding. Products and training that I would provide should in theory prevent the ****** getting to him in the first place but if they did I would offer training on how to deal with the situation with no force used. It would most defiantly not involve running down the stairs rambo style! Quite the opposite..

But as I did not, and dont really want too, go into full details on an open forum I can understand why you are confused. If you want a bit more info PM me.

I live in an up and coming area, which used to have a bad reputation. I moved in to the new house a year and half ago and one night saw some dodgy looking young yobs hanging around, everyone else just closed their curtains but I went out to have a word, I didn't want them hanging around. They were asking me about the houses, how big they are, how many rooms etc I ended up telling them that they are all alarmed, directly to the police and we all have huge dogs! (a lie) They never came back!

With regards to the intruder, I think as a nation we ought to be more on the side of the homeowner, supporting them if they defend themselves no matter how they do it. Enter my house and feel my wrath! Kind of thing. I think this would help deter the key snatchers.
