WHAT BHP IS A 93 IMPORT
#35
Just thought I'd put my little beak in,the MY93 WRX import I have is pushing out 294 bhp,due to the fact of the previous owners(4) spending thousands on performance mods. But also thrashing the pistons&crankshaft to ****,the engine has since been rebuilt.

worth while thread imo. it shows several things. there are a broad range of views regarding the z4 ecu, prices to pay and the results you may see. it also shows how helpful the genuine people on snet can be.

Decat downpipe; you dont have a catalytic convertor in the centre section, its just a resonator. Id leave the existing intercooler in place until youre making well over 300bhp, then Id look at icreasing the airflow over it (the std part) and monitoring the inlet temperature. When you really need it Id bite the bullet and buy a FMIC from Harvey Smith. In the mean time Id buy a Z4 from Grade-A (***** even cheaper now that they were at the NBO!). When youre ready/can afford it Id look at a 'ScoobyECU'-type upgrade from Enduring Solutions too... With Harveys FMIC, 320bhp shouldnt be out of reach. I wouldnt bother trying to fit any other Classic top mount intercooler and whilst the 03 STI part is much better than what you have now, fitting it is a massive pain in the ****. I disagree witht he poster who doesnt think that a Z4 will benefit you too: the Z4 has a greatly superior fuel map than the MY93 cars had, with a shade more boost too I believe (12.7psi?).

Perhaps I should have re-written to state that you are unlikely to notice much difference in the drive of the car. I changed mine and noticed absolutely nothing, so quickly sold it on. If you can pick one up for £65 then fine, but to get any noticeable power increase, as I said, you'd be better with a chip in your original ECU. This will give a real extra kick and improved fuel map for not that much extra outlay - c£200.

Haggle; they were selling a Z4 for £65 at the NBO... At the very most that should be plus VAT and carriage at cost now; say £85 delivered, tops. Also, try to be a little less Southern if you can; it can only help cant it?

little less southern. i emailed them so they couldn't see my basildon knock off burberry cap, jacket, t shirt and trousers
mentioned the £65 one and they come back with £100 all in. Might take a risk on the one that i pm'd you about. guess i could sell it for what i pay for it if i don't end up using it.
