Personally I think that blobs are the best looking (WR1's) but i couldn't afford one so I got a bug. A good looking one too! In my opinion the early classics are the ugliest, they look so dated and bland!! I cannot see how anyone could be proud to own an early Impreza? I have a disliking to old looking cars... That does not mean I find all classics the same though as I would love a P1 and of course a 22b.

These are only my opinions so save the backlash for the trolls.

I await my punishment........

Bugeyes are not ugly,they are just imposing.

I've owned 2 classic and 2 Newage and IMHO there is nothing wrong with the Bugeye STi

Having voted bug eye, i have to admit that in sti guise, the bugeye is in fact a goog looking car imho

I have to agree completely with nathanb , my fave is the wr1 , and I would have bought one but i didnt have that money , so I bought a bugeye , and it drives just aswell as any other newage and better than my previous Classic so whats the problem , people dont get much chance to see the bugeye , normally just the pipes and thats all that matters

Driven a few classics, much prefer the new-age chassis. The classics only really came good with th STi5&6 and the 98+ cars, along with the 22B. All still fell out of the ugly tree hitting every branch though. There are many cars I would rather have if any could offer the same blend of power, handling and grip, but sometimes a compromse is necessary, and Scoobs will always be a compromise. If the VW Corrado had been offered with a decent 4WD system, 300+bhp and jap reliability I would still be driving German.

Ugliest, slowest and cheapest taking into consider age is the bugeye.
Not surprised either if you've ever driven one you'll know how slow they are.
What I find amusing is when the owners stick different lights on them and end up with something that looks like an even worse abomination.

 

Why didn't you just say "isnt the bugeye ugly" ffs

Personally, a bugeye with Morettes is the nicest looking of all of them.

The new-age chassis on launch was quoted as being 200% more rigid than the previous chassis, affording much more precise handling and improved cornering and handling abilities. Having driven both back-to-back on track I wholeheartedly agree. The classic has more excitement on offer as with its wayward handling and sudden power delivery it is easy to provoke into slides and drifts, but the new-age chassis is ultimately more composed and hence quicker, even if it doesn't feel it. IMHO.

If I remember back to the early/mid 1990s, we all thought the Impreza wouldn't win any beauty competitions. The other competitions it won helped to warm people towards its idiosyncratic looks.

All Imprezas are ugly, but some are more ugly than others.

Yes, although it's been a while since I drove any Scoob on standard suspension. My 1st ever experience of driving a Scoob was a standard classic on track, which was a hoot given it was the wettest day ever on a greasy, tight and twisty circuit. I found breaking it loose and drifting it very easy and loads of fun. When I drove my 03 car on the same track some time later I was at first dismayed that I couldn't get it sideways as easily, but the laptimes were quicker as a result. If you're going sideways you ain't going forwards Another reason the new-age didn't feel as exciting is the power delivery, which is much more progressive through more of the rev range, again, ultimately meaning more speed but not feeling so.
The upshot is that the taught body control combined with a smooth progressive power delivery makes for controlled laps which seem less exciting but are quicker. The best time I noticed this sort of thing was when racing go-karts. In one race I found myself in free-space on the track, with no-one close behind and quite a distance to make up to catch the next driver. Being able to take the perfect racing line through neither defending nor attacking I felt like I was going slowly as there were no late braking moves, no impulsive attitude changes, everything was just smooth and flowing. When I came into the pits and checked my lap-times for that section I was between 1 and 3 seconds a lap quicker than in the previous phase of the race where I'd been challenging and challenged for positions.
